Just finished up my last two school shows
before summer break begins.i did my last one today for about
100 1st graders.the show went off without a hitch.everything
went great from beginning till the end.but there was something
special about this one.when the show was over.and the teachers were trying
to gather the kids togeather to go back to class.the students boys and girls
kelp coming up to me and giving me a big warm hug and thanking me for the show.
I always feel good when I have finished a show and it has went well.but this one
was very inspirational to me.i felt like I had connected very close with them today.

That has happened quite frequently after my school shows - provided they weren't rushed off. The kids really appreciate what we do, at least the well behaved kids. If I don't get hugs, I occasionally get kids thanking me for the show, in an unexpectedly mature manner. Kids are great. I hope you get many more hugs, Todd. It makes what we do worthwhile.

Yes Michael
I did notice the mature behavior this kids had.
and to be 1st graders it was exceptional.
I do get hugs and thank yous too other times also.
but this came from 90% of the students.my show this
time had material in it on how we need to care of
our planet earth and how to grow up and be whatever
our hearts desire in life.i hope I lit a fire in their hearts today.

I've noticed that too....in school kids are always trying to hug you or at least high-five you, wheras at birthday parties not so much.

Everybody wants to beleive.....we just help them along.

We have found that we get hugs more often at our school shows. It is amazing just how much the kids really seem to appreciate us and the fact that they feel a connection to us by the end of the show.

Sometimes I think it is because as children's entertainers, they realize that we care about them. Unfortunately, I have a hunch it may be one of the few times they really feel like someone does care about them.

I get hugs from several of mine too. But for me the biggest reason they come back is to see another trick or to pet one of my animals.

I wish we had the tradition of school shows in the UK.

Kids magic shows and school shows are two completely different things.

That would not be fun here in the U.S.

I sometimes get hugs and high-fives after a show. Mostly, I get raves about how great the show was.

I followed a local pro clown a couple weeks ago at one party - he's a good guy. But, I arrived to hear the kids say that he s*cked! OMG! I assured the kids that they'd love my show and they did. They were singing my praises for the rest of the party! Even though the adults that hire me don't think that kids are demanding audiences, I know better. The magic has to be strong, if you perform any magic at all.
