Hey all,

Just a quick one - was wondering what everyone's favourite coin effect is?
I'd say I'm capable of performing the likes of coins across and the 3 fly but I've never found anything that really works for me.
What sort of things do you guys currently do and what do you recommend?

Many Thanks

Ryan

Er, Didn't you start this Subject on Nothing Up Your Sleeve? Best GAFFED coins effects? THAT will probably stir up some things. I like H&H, dislike S&S.

It's cool. I think it would be a healthy discussion to talk about favorite gaff effects and sleights only effects. IMO, David Neighbors and Curtis Kam's input would be very valuable.

All of the above! Actually, MB's "Crimp Switch" (can I call it that?) is my favorite new tool. A coin changes in ONE HAND! I can do it with both hands, so a Half Dollar becomes an English Penny, then in the other hand it changes to a Chinese!

CSB using Doc Eason's routine with Bob Sheets miracle move.

Love it!

My all-time opener: CSB - I really love that one as it has a lot of magic, good entertaining potential and looks so very clean "show coins, close hands, open hands = magic", no funny moves nothing

Since this is in the "Trick Coin" subforum I take it this is regarding gaffed coins. That said, my favorite gaffed effect has to be Steve Dusheck's Copper/Silver Transpo.

Although I own a lot of gaffed coins, most are thrown into that same old drawer. For the most part, the only ones I use are shells and C/S coins. There's a heck of a lot of magic you can do with those! All my flippers are sitting in the drawer; tired of re-banding them. (Though I do have one of Bob Swadling's that's part of the Triception set - just haven't used it in... forever).

I have several TUCs but have only ever used the half dollar ones in routines. I don’t get enough chance to use the quarter TUC to justify carrying it with me and the Ike TUC just doesn’t work well - never has; very weak magnet in it. I don’t like to use the half TUCs in close-up work; too easy to expose when you're working that close to people, and since that's all I do is close-up, well, they don’t get carried with me either.

Shells and C/S coins. Lots of ways to use them and they always mystify, never fail.

(Now I'll get a million PMs again from folks wanting my other gaffs - but I don’t sell anything... ever.)

Thanks!

Jim

With the number of times you (and others) have posted on this here on the Café, I am surprised that Mr Tango has not reached out to you to get you a satisfactory working Ike TUC. While I love my Morgan TUC, your experience makes me (once again) wonder about Mr. Tango's commitment to customer service.

The Ike TUC doesn’t bother me much. After all I don’t often work with Ikes so it isn't that big a deal. He wasn’t yet making his Morgans when I bought this. What does bother me though is the Tango expanded shells; I have several and not one looks like a real coin! All stretched and flattened with very little relief if any. Even on the Kennedy sliding half-shell. I don’t buy much of anything there anymore.

Thanks guys, nice to even be mentioned/recognized amongst all these wonderful effects. Most of mine don't use gaffs but many times I've been asked as to what kind of gaffs I'm using with some of these effects, most recently, "My Fly."

WOW!!! I felt good as I responded, "None" and then most humbly, "Thank you."

Gold Finger PLUS, is one of the effects I most like from Mb's Coin Magic downloads. I perform it when I have an opportunity. IMO it is one of the cleanest and best of all the Spellbound around; you are able to show openly that only one coin is used to turn a coin into a completely different coin.

Guys,

Thanks for all the responses.
The links you have posted and effects recommended have re-ignited my love for coin magic....so thank you!

Trooper11040 - great shout with Charming Chinese Challenge. I have a set but totally forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me, will be using that this weekend!

I also picked up a coin unique a few weeks ago, and it is my new baby. It's just incredible. I recommend it to all.

Again, thanks for the feedback all!

If you are familiar with the routine, it is the move when Doc places the half-dollar in a (sort of) finger palm, turns his hand to show the coin is still there, then closes his hand in a fist and opens it and the foreign coins are there. A very magical moment...the miracle move.

I hasten to add that it is a special finger palm and well worth the low price of his booklet.

Love this routine!
