I recently am schooling up on my thriller/horror movies and I bought this one, and am watching this as I type. What do you guys think of this remake (those who saw it).

It is not the worst remake ever made, but rent it. Do not buy it.

I bought it for 8 euro (approx. 10 dollar). This isn't the worst movie I have seen. There are by far movies that are much worse (american pie anyone?)

I like the original better but the remake was alright. I wish Hollywood would start taking more chances with new scripts instead of mangling those that are loved in a somewhat original state.
The horror/slasher cash cow of the 1980s doesn't really appeal to the current generation. Seems like the studios are trying to make money on films that made money before. Rob Zombie should be turned into a frog, then dried out and used in a nasty Vo Du ritual of revenge on remakes.

Visually slick, a Hollywood eye-candy stun-fest not unlike Van Helsing and the Brendan Fraser Mummy franchise. It is an attempt to update the Universal monsters of the 1930s & 40s begun with the Mummy in 1999 and not an unworthy effort (go back and watch some of the early Universal attempts to cash in on their original monsters . . . House of Frankenstein (or any Glen Strange Frankenstein movie), the 'Kharis' Mummy franchise, &c., and these new attempts gain by comparison). While I rather liked the new Wolfman and appreciated its many nods to the Lon Chaney Jr. version, it unhappily replaced a lot of the original atmosphere with glitz and high-tech wizardry (not to mention storytelling pitfalls to play to the 13-year-old mentality of the popcorn thriller). Notwithstanding, I bought the blu-ray, watch it when Hallowe'en rolls around, and enjoy it for what it is.

I'm learning to appreciate the genre more and more. I would love to watch the frankenstein movie with robert de niro in it. I'm going to buy more thrillers that cross my path and seem good to me, although nothing can beat the psychology of my favourite: silence of the lambs.

In my opinion, the best Universal monster remake was Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein.

Kind of enjoyed it. Saw it in the theatre alone with a box of popcorn and was a kid all over again.

I actually enjoyed the Wolfman remake. Granted it's typical Universal rush action flick, but it was a good popcorn movie. Don't go in with high expectations and you'll find yourself pleasantly entertained.

I didn't mind it. It was everything a Universal monster movie should be. It was a daft bit of escapism that kept you entertained for 2 hours. I didn't go with any expectations of anything deep. It didn't quite gel as a film. The first half set the scene visually moving quite slowly before it then went a lot more effects heavy. It didn't quite work, but the original wolfman remains one of my favourite universal monsters. Most of the rest are based on a literary source or previous film whereas the wolfman wrote a lot of the modern day myths of werewolves.

It was better then I expected but worse then the original. There is some cool set design and art direction but the CGI always ruins it for me.
