Find this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVyQG-7rS5Y&feature=my_favorites&list=FLXsHXINGaBI_ov60pVUWIdA

Does anyone know where it's published a similiar version?

Thanks

Start with the MacDonald $100 Ace Routine then analyze what he's doing with the last ace

IMHO there's enough already in print that you could reconstruct it. On the whole it's not novel so please don't go being a copyist.

I strongly suggest you decide what you like about that routine and (if you don't know the what or how or where) ask for what you want.

Must be nice not to worry about reset issues. Taking a worker's table hopping routine and turning it into a platform setup trick has its benefits. Another guy made spectacular use of black art in similar context.

Check out John Guastaferro's "Vino Aces." He uses four wine glasses in a McDonald's aces type routine.

Mr. Powers,

Just saw you post something, not meaning to hijack this thread, but I have to say that your book Power Plays is the finest literature on card magic that I have ever read! Im a bar magician in NW Iowa and use 3 of the effects within the book every time I work!

Second that opinion.

I don't see the harm in Helder asking if the routine has been published or put out on DVD, since now a days many are. So lighten up and stop making unessesary accusations about being a copiest. If you don't know answer to the question, than don't answer.

Gary Kurtz has some work on taking an ace assembly from close up to platform. It's in a set of notes of his from about, what 15+ years ago?

Really, this is a great routine. Kept me interested and I don't even speak a lick of Spanish. That framing of the effect and the staging were done nicely. A little too much over proving, but that's a magicians curse I believe. Thank you Helder for bringing that routine and Joaquin Matas to my attention. Thank you!

A nice presentation. I recall Ali Bongo doing a four ace routine for platform with four glasses at a Leeds convention over 30 years ago. It was in his lecture notes at that time. I've always thought it odd when magicians think four ace assemblies don't play well for lay people when clearly they do.

Paul.

"Mentalism With Cards" will soon be out of print. "The Tree of Knowledge" is out now!

The framing of the effect and the staging were the first things that piqued my interest. The 3 aces arranged that way are like arrows pointing to the glass, very good, I like it. I know Vino Aces and it's a great routine but I prefer that with only one glass.
What we see as over proving it's Arturo de Ascanio touches. He liked to make clear the condition of cards, especially at the beginning of the routines.
Thanks motown, I agree.

And thanks to all.

Thank you guys very much for the kudos! You have made my day!!

I'm working on book four.

On topic: John G's "Vino Aces" has a very elegant feel with each packet in its own goblet. I use it in stand-up shows playing it silent to music.

1) If he wanted the guy's routine he could have asked the performer directly.
What better way to get started and perhaps make a friend in magic?

2) If he had some specific part of the routine in mind that he wanted to use for his own routine - happy to offer reference to the literature for the items I recognize.

Now perhaps you can see.

BTW, the Kurtz routine comes up for sale on occasion (Ultimate Aces - even though it uses Queens) and the version on his video is also very good. Hofzinser's version in that 4.95 paperback remains the seminal work on the subject (see also Down's Art of Magic) and you can't go wrong starting on that foot. If you like to get clever, sticky stuff can help. If you want to get even more clever, Black Art and a well timed packet switch can do wonders.

There you go, the doors are open - why settle for copying someone when you can find your own "best" routine?
