I searched this section using a number of words, so I must be missing something.
Looking for a temporary adhesive for gluing a small magnet to a coin. Best would be to have a hold similar to how rubber cement holds paper/cards - solid, but no real trouble to remove. I'm hoping the answer isn't rubber cement - that thought occurred to me as I was typing this. Just assumed it wouldn't work. Anyway, TIA ~

"Blue Tack" may work depending on what you are doing with the manetic coin.

Duh. Sometimes I need to take the advice I so often give my daughters: think.
I dismissed Rubber Cement because my only experience with it had been using cards. I posted the above while sitting in my car in a parking lot...got home, tested, and found RC worked just fine. I had recently tried to use RC on 100% plastic cards with absolutely no success, so perhaps that was in the back of my mind. For some reason, my mind locked on a "glue". I rarely use wax, but have some very firm wax at home. Works fine. Blue and white tack worked, but not as well. Dbl sided tape, dbl sided carpet tape were very good alternatives, too.

You beat me to it Elton. 3M Mounting Spray is great and I use it to temporarily hold things together when building so it might be worth a try. You could spray it on the coin beforehand and it will survive many sticks and releases. The only problem is that it comes in a giant aerosol can so you wont be able to use it invisibly or carry it around with you. It is cheap though so well worth a try sometime.
I say in 200 words what most people say in 20.

3M etc... spray adhesives stay on the product (they do on paper products, haven't tried on coins but assume the same), as opposed to RC or poster tack or wax. . This would make these products unusable for my own purposes, though they sound like they would be an excellent resource for other situations.

What about double sided scotch tape?

I use that for certain things - particularly to attach small magnets inside coin sh***s. In fact, I think that double-sided carpet tape would be an upgrade to DS Scotch tape if one is looking for strength or longer-term hold.
Tape, though, seems not quite as easily removable while in performance, if that is a need, as some alternatives.

You might want to try this. 3M VHB tape. It is not really a tape, it's more like the stuff they use to stick insert in side magazines. The VHB stands for Very High Bond and it is a pressure sensitive adhesive. You can stick stuff to it but when you take it off, the adhesive sticks to itself. Just rub your finger over it and it stick to itself like a little ball of snot. It doesn't leave any residue either. I just tried some on a coin and the bond is quite strong but can be broken depending on the amount you use.

E6000 works well on all stuff.
God's grace rocks! It makes a good cups and balls routine look pretty boring in comparison.

Hello Chessmann,
My temporary fixture system based on adhesive can obtain a perfect solution. The system was developed for industrial purposes and called OPTO-ACT, the shear strength is between 50-450 Kg/cm^2 if you visit my web site you can find more information: http://www.mts-rnd.com Please send me an e-mail for more details: yulian@mts-rnd.com Thank you.
