I am curious to why the Demo Video does not show you anything magical occuring, only non-magical bits and pieces. Does anyone have a video of this effect?

Well if they posted a full length video of the routine it would be a bit too easy for someone to reverse engineer after multiple viewings. So you will not find any authorized full length performances online. However if you doubt the routines potency, rest assured it is dynamite .

Giovanni Livera is probably a name a lot of people might not be familiar with but the top names in magic know him ALL TOO WELL. This is a man who performs for the corporate elite. I have had the privilege to call Gio my friend and ANY advice he gives you is gold! I have not seen the price of this effect but I know two things: 1) It is Gio's pet routine and 2) Was shot and edited by Jeff Kaylor and The Magic Estate which makes this, IMO, worth any price they ask. I have seen this effect first hand and witnessed it's wonder (actually, I'm in the trailer. I'm the one sitting in the front kneeling down like a schoolboy at his first magic show and covering my face because I just got FRIED!)

But, I'd be willing to bet, you would miss out on all the great touches and thinking behind this routine. I remember reading about Giovanni in The Magic Menu and various other books, and how he was praised by his skill and his elegant performing style. With all the over priced effects and one trick DVDs flooding the market these days. IMO this is probably one of the few that are worth the price. Although I don't have it yet, I will be picking this up for sure.

From what I can see on the youtube clip, there is a different ending to the Genii write-up.

Can anyone describe the routine/effect?

There's not really a way to tell what happens without having to walk you through the entire sequence. Basically, this routine is more than a piece of magic. It's a lesson in misdirection! Coins appear from nowhere and multiply, vanish and find themselves on top of the salt shaker as well as underneath it. Even MULTIPLE coins wind up balanced perfectly (as seen near the end of the trailer). Trust me...I've seen Gio do this and there are parts of it that still fry me. It's not for everyone. If you're a casual magician or someone who does not love the serious study of magic then by all means, go find a hip and trendy DVD. But if you understand the value of a good investment and appreciate the fine points of the art, you'll realize that once you learn this routine that it's worth TEN TIMES the amount being asked for!

The routine Giovanni Livera performs on an issue of Reel Magic is so beautifully thought out that I would want to see anything put out by this magician. Not everything worthwhile is something you will put into your act. Sometimes, just watching a master at work can be a rewarding experience. And in this case, in addition, you get to see how it's done, which, even if you never do the trick, can be beneficial as well.

Is this just a routine or are there props or gimmicks included?

There are no gimmicks. You get a salt shaker with it, but you will need to aqire the coins.

This looks fantastic. It seems to me like he uses tried and true sleights but man, like Michael says it looks like a total lesson in mis-direction. That coin just sits on top of the shaker and not one person sees it. Awesome

IMO, this is an outstanding routine. It's simple to follow and there are multiple surprises or "magical moments," but it all comes down to routining, misdirection and the perfect execution of some rather simple moves. The teaching on this 37 minute DVD is very thorough and fluff-free. It features a studio performance, a live performance for two women at a table, and a live parlor performance at the Magic Castle. Livera comes across as a very likeable, charismatic performer who's having fun and wants to share it with others. Yes, it's a bit of an investment, but this is a solid routine you could do for the rest of your life.
