Oh, yes, FD- I was just making a general comment.
I recognized your post as an excellent one when I first read it. That is the kind of post that is needed, not the kind that is not needed. No more knuckleheaded posts from the bozo that first started posting quotes from "Rocky Horror". Oh, wait a minute- that was me! Thank you very much! |

Well, at a minimum it was a very good one.
I was thinking the opposite- a reader that was familiar with the book would be a good person to use it on. On second thought I was probably wrong. That's why, if I had it, I would take it out for a test spin with my son. He would be able to tell me if it seems suspicious. Thanks again! |

It's not illegal. And then expose it. A group buy would be the best idea for many of these sketchy products. We all pitch in a very small amount to buy just one. Then it gets reviewed, and explained in secret sessions. Decide from there if it's worth investing in. The actual products could be auctioned off and the $$ goes back into the group buy fund. Or give it to charity. When a few people pitch in on a downloadable item, guess who owns it? DD |

Has my spectators absolutely amazed and/or stunned. And it is so simple to do. It has never aroused suspicion from my specs. I'm talking about method #2 for those in the know. One of my yearly performances is a kids show at a library. My interest in this product is due to that, and that alone. My pay does not justify the expense, though. Quote:

I suggested a donation of $1 (or more if you felt like it), and I had not a single taker. If I got $100 worth of donations, I would have put out the other $100. How far I would have gone, I'm not sure. I'm talking about the exposure thing here. If I'm going to keep it to use, I don't want to blab it all over the place. I'm not a YouTube kind of guy- I've never put up a video at all. And I never will. It's not my thing. I certainly don't mind watching one when you guys point one out to me, though. Besides, two wrongs don't make a right, and I'm sure that I would have been rightly reamed out by most people here if I exposed it on YouTube. But I would have gone into details with my investors, telling them everything and anything they need to know. Just so you know, I belong to an IBM Ring. We regularly do a "Show and Tell" about our latest magic products. I've been a member 8 years. These are my pals, and I personally don't see anything wrong with that. Some of these guys have been magicians for 60 years or more, and they don't have a problem with that. The oldest member is 88, and he's been a magician since he was a kid. You do the math. The Show and Tell was being done before I got there, so I had nothing to do with it. But I was glad to be able to get free extra knowledge. And I still am. About half of my Ring are working pros, and the other half are serious amateurs. Time to make dinner for the wife and kids! |

Good idea Don. A few torrent sites do this already. Why don't you set it up?

There are other types of forums that do the same thing. Torrent-related sounds a bit shady. It may not be the same thing.
There are likely already plugins to enable this on a forum. DD |

I may not understand what a torrent site is.
Why would a torrent site pay for anything? I'm not talking about charging for access to illegally hosted materials. Maybe I can find an example. DD |

Torrents are really just a method for sharing files. WHAT files are shared can make things "interesting."

Legends abound of Latest and Greatests long running Brian Brushwood thread.
Started by the infamous Scoop Ferguson the thread quickly went off piste and focussed on the intense argument on IP. Widespread news reports circulated of readers small intestines wrapping themselves around their own arteries to cause brain shutdowns to prevent boredom from the torturous arguments that were underway. At the end of the day it is still unclear whether the product under discussion ever had any sales. |

If you all cut through half the mind numbing crap over 20+ pages, like three people have already commented on their purchase of it. Amazing......

These 3 people are friends with Schwood- they are not one of us peons, Michael. And I believe it was 2 friends, not 3.
And true, at least one of them is a working pro (probably both), BUT his first (5?) and only posts here are in defense of the Schwood book test. Schwood also married his assistant, and he is a BUSINESS PARTNER of Schwood's. I just checked his website, and he has not yet sold 100 copies of either book yet, because the price is still at $200. Yes, I know a $200 magic purchase is a hard sell. But there must be 100 working pros that have a need for this. Heck, I'd love to get it myself. I can't do it at that price. My $50 investment in "Glance" was an excellent one- one of the best magic tricks I've ever bought! I want to know if anybody here that we know and respect has ordered it. Or even just know and don't respect. Anybody here order this? Please let us know! :bat: |

Just to clarify something, when I said in my post directly above that PROBABLY both that posted here about Schwood's book test are working pros, I made a mistake- they are definitely both working pros. That is the only way they could own a copy- be a working pro and a friend of Schwood.
On a side note, I have checked out a few of the Scam School videos. What's up with the pro magicians that have helped Schwood expose things, like Ammar and Garcia? I don't get it. I guess non-exposure is not part of the magician's creed anymore. :bat: |
