Yes. Very much. That is a prop I'd like to have. I was impressed by your Modern Art for sure! Thanks for documenting the process.

How about a double tip trunk, since you're at it?

I would be really interested too. I worked out a design for one; it involved a lot of piano hinges. I wanted it to fold flat and also open and lock into place real easy and fast.

Fast is the key-- as I hve seen a few that block and bolt togather but they take a very long time to set up and break down ( I want mine to set up and brack down in under 5 min.).

and this one has a lot of hinges to, (but should lock solid in the setup position).

I am going for only 3 parts that fit togather

The design would be scalable to any size, I assume. I was thinking of one big enough for a child.

MY plan if things go right ( they never do) is to get the wood and hinges this weekend. I am trying to make it as big as will go in my car (SATURN) still working out mesurements. I do not use piano hinges ( mostly for price but other thing to). this thing wll have 22 hinges (and they have to come in at 1 dollar each).

My total for today was $140.00
that was for 2 sheets of plywood 3/8" good surface and 22 hinges. ths is is my cut list for the 2 sheets of ply (to get the wood home from the store)

If I did the math right I should be able to get all parts cut from this.
I have the wood for the base and also have the castors.

I think I am going with a box that is 30" high 45" wide and 29" deep.
This is a few inches bigger than the Mark Wilson tip trunk.
Because I am not building from a plan ( this is my way of making a tip box that folds flat)I can't cut out all the parts then put togather, each piece will be cut fitted then the next piece cut (it will take longer).

I got the top cut out and sanded-- I cut it out 1" bigger (than the top of the box) in both directions, because I am adding 1/2 " strapping all around. Try to post a new picture next Mon.
