It's one of the better tricks with a memorized deck.
Its even easy for beginners and yet very powerful. |

It was nice to see him free styling and using a MD. He was slick in the setup. It must bet Tamariz. Unless he already knows The Aronson from NDO that was just cracked and is available at Vanishing Inc.

This was a master class of pick a card effects done with a mem deck.....fantastic
To do it on the fly and stack a deck with someone else' deck was amazing. |

That was a masterclass. Especially the first effect; the guy mumbled a little and the name was hard to pick out. Awesome example of how strong this stuff can be in skilled hands, though. Borrowed decks. Totally free choices. Casual attitude. No possible explanation but real magic.

Twistedace, David uses the Tamariz stack. It's very easy to acquire the stack from NDO. THe method recently released for doing so with the Aronson Stack (the stack that I use), is quite complex and involved. It takes a few minutes to do and needs to be structured as part of a routine. It's very clever and my hat's off to the creator, but, honestly, I'll never use it. I'd just switch decks and be done with it. Of course, it could come in handy in a borrowed deck situation, but the Tamariz method is so much easier.
It's all in the reflexes.

For me, that was one of the moviest, and moviest looking, performances I've ever seen. I'm with Illucifer, go to the head if you have to set up, cold deck the kiddies, and a COUPLE false shuffles. Maybe a breather. How much more professional and copacetic is that?
There were tally ho's there, so I am assuming that maybe he was also showing off his stacking technique for magicians, whom I'm thinking wouldn't be that impressed with 5 minutes of trying to get your faro right and then sloppy false shuffles and way too obvious running cuts. |

Elainevblaine makes a good point about the convoluted nature of some of what was going on. Once he introduced the second deck after having a card thought of, things got rather confusing. I'd have gone a more direct route, and I think he intended to, but the 2 of Spades popping up threw a wrench in things a bit. Nevertheless, the trick had a big impact, which shows how powerful this stuff can be. I do like the fact that it feels a bit off-the-cuff, as though he's just sort of making it up as he goes, but that can be achieved with far less confusion. Honestly, the non-memdeck effect (Paul Harris's 'Galaxy') might be the strongest in the entire set.
It's all in the reflexes.

As someone who is not familiar with this type of magic to me that appeared to be impossible. Obviously it is not but I am still very impressed.

The main lessons learnt from watching this is that:-
- He made a pre-determined memorised card set feel almost off the cuff and impromptu and spur of the moment. - He made mistakes, but recovered from them very well and still pulled off the intended effects and got strong reactions, spectators were now the wiser of the mistakes - His card magic played to a very large crowd ( for a close up performance) and the reactions on the volunteers was what got the strong reactions, he made the card effects play big If I could get those sort of reactions from every performance, I'd be happy. |

The mistakes are awful! Really clumsy recovery.
