Hi, guys, just wanted to share an absolute gem from the great Roy Walton. Some of you will know it already. Its called Ambitious 1234 from Card Cavalcade 3 and its fantastic! Its strong magic, its impromptu, its quick its not very difficult, it is fun to perform (you might fool yourself) and has a cool factor for the performer.
I love this trick. If you own Cavalcade 3 and don't know this one, be sure to check it out and give it a try. I think you'll like it. |

I believe it's also written up in Card College, volume . . . 3 (thanks Denis)
It is. That's probably a more available text for most people. I suspect Card College has sold three gazillion copies and Card Cavalcade 3 about one hundred or so. |

Thanks, Kent. I'm not really a Card College guy and was unaware it was published there.
Well for you other 999 999 999 999 900 people (100 less than a gazillion?) Who don't have the Card Cavalcade series, I highly recommend them. |

I learnt it from Card College (where Giobbi gives full credit to Walton, of course). It's one of my absolute favourites!!!
If you want to do one effect, impromptu, this one is easy and always has good reactions!!! Highly recommended. mlippo |

I learnt this from The Complete Walton Vol 2...the fact that three gazillion now know this thanks to Giobbi saddens me...a little.
HOW and WHY does it even appear in there?
So much to do. So little time.

Mr. X, can I also assume you don't want every good card book to be reprinted continually?

Right, because it's so much better when people who are passionate about magic can't get access to information. Much better to keep them in the dark....

Hec, ive even heard some magicians were so passionate that they sold there homes and moved out west just to be close to a certain magician. Indeed, approaching his table and hanging around hoping some "information" would come out of his mouth. Passion indeed. Those men didn't allow themselves to be "in the dark". That said, I have no problem with good routines like this one appearing in a variety of sources as many good routines do. I just don't automatically went every good book reprinted. What a horrible person I am. Back to the Walton trick! |

I just pulled CC 3 off my shelf and looked it up. It is well described by Giobbi.
The handling (and therefore the effect) is slightly different in the Giobbi book. I think I prefer the one in the Mentzer book. Is it different still in the Complete Walton? |

Don't worry Magicfish, very few people do read anymore.... Which is sad!!!!
Right now I'm preparing to do an awful thing at my magic club. I'm going to present a good book each month by doing (and not explaining)a few tricks from each one just so people know how much treasure are in them. Don't know if it will better the situation but I'll keep trying. Yves |

Another great little trick in the Walton section of CC3 is "As You Were"...whimsical and perplexing.
