Have you seen this effect on Penguin's instant download offering? If not, check this out: http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/3578
First of all, I do not know Rick, I have never met him and I do not make any money on this at all. One late night while being bored, I took a chance on an $4.95 download that looked very interesting from the demo video. In short, I really love this effect! This is something that I now carry with me ALL THE TIME! It fits in my wallet, can be done close-up, stand-up and for a large group as well. Leave your rod and reels at home as there is "NO FISHING", just direct mind reading. The principal is an old one that is used very well here. Rick provides some additional touches that really makes this effect work very well. I have taken this concept and adapted it to my own presentational style that is simply stunning for my audiences. You can customize your to do list to fit you. As a reviewer for Magic Unity and Might Magazine, I see a lot of magic. I don't do this often but this is an effect that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! It is simple to perform and looks like real mind reading. At $4.95, this is a STEAL! Do yourself a favor and get "To-Do Voodoo" now. If you buy it and want to discuss my handling of the effect, please feel free to PM me. Jamie Salinas

It is a recommendation. I do not know Rick. I do not benefit from this one bit financially. I do not work for Penguin or do business with them other than occasionally buying something from them. Isn't this area for reviews of mental effects?

I just re-read the posting at the top of this forum (sticky) and what I wrote falls under this area of the forum.
Thanks, Jamie Salinas

I, too, bought To-Do VooDoo, and can only say, Wow! This has been my best investment for the money in magic or mentalism in years.
Yes, this is an old principle, but I have personalized it and can immediately repeat it. I have never carried around tricks in my pocket...until now. This one goes in my wallet and is my new "go to" trick in impromptu situations. I have even used it in professional walk-around sets. When I get those people who aren't into sleight-of-hand or try to second-guess every trick, I pull this out. This is all they talk about for the rest of the night. I'm telling you, it kills. Don't knock it because of its simplicity or age until you try it. I recently had lunch with Banachek who agreed that it is a nice effect and even came up with another brilliant presentation (of course). He said he was going to support Rick Lax and download the trick, too. How can you go wrong for five bucks? So there are two more endorsements: Banachek and me.

My initial reviews/comments on this effect were poor. I have backpedaled a lot on that. I have found a lot of value and success in this effect. I would like to see if there's a way that owners of this effect can share ideas for lists to use during this presentation. Rick Lax showed me a few variations he had in his pocket at Magic Live, lists that were potentially useful for others. Would be neat if we could all share ideas somehow. Any suggestions on how?

You can most definitely customize the list.

I love To Do Voodoo - I carry it everywhere, and it looks amazingly organic. Strong reactions too! My frame story: "Today I've so many things to do that I haven't even had the time to complete my mentalist exercises... Yes, because I need to exercise every day to keep my mentalist skills sharp. But how can I do that? See? I need to go to the library, pick up some milk, call my aunt Carmelina... but, wait, maybe I CAN do a quick exercise..."
