Opener: My own trick where I transpose two signed cards from across the room, still need a good name for it yet!
Middle: My spin on The Lemon Game by Doug Malloy
Closer: My heavily modified version of The $100 Billet Catch by Aaron Smith

Funny thing is these three routines fill about 20min of stage time too!

I've seen this posted many times but I want to get some fresh answers and it's fun.
Here's the idea..............Pretend that you can now only perform 3 tricks the rest of your life.
What would they be? Choose an opener, middle, and closer. Can be close up or stage.
Dave

Opener- Coins across (Pop Hayden version),
Middle- Single rope (Foundations of which are from Fiber optics),
Closer- Blank Night (John Archer),

This is a set I have used in a performance regarding relationships in business. First I spoke about how things want to come together, then how some things just are the way they are. Then I spoke about how we can be influenced. I knew it was going to be a small audience but by chance there was only 7 pepole so I added in some ring and rope moves to my rope that need a volunteer. So every one in the group got to be involved.

The coins across is a new routine which I love and imagine using it a lot and it has a lot to play with so I think I will be performing that for the rest of my life. The rope routine I do I have done for 8 plus years and love it so I could do it for another 50 years. And Blank night is all about playing the audience and there reaction so I will never get bored of that.

The 3 effects all pretty much can be performed close up or parlor. I can bring in volunteers if needed to the first two effect or not.

that's me for now!
Enjoy your magic,

and let others enjoy it as well!

Best trick in the world!

1. Date with a beautiful woman
2. Kissing and holding hands
3. Sex

I tried that but my closer didn't quite close instead I got an encoure performance of

4. Oh your pregnant?
5. Parenthood
6. No more disposable income

Still if it weren't for that I wouldn't be learning magic ☺

I will play.

Opener- Color Changing Silks
Middle- Sponge Balls
Closer- Linking Rings

From an audience enjoyment perspective:
All of these are highly visual and can be seen at various distances.
All have forgiving angles for various conditions. So no chance of exposure and ruining the wonder.
They are easy to carry and auto reset for walk-around. (I carry 10 inch rings on belt loop when doing outdoor walkaround). So I could entertain anywhere.
I can adapt each routine to the age mixture of the audience.

From my personal enjoyment perspective:
There is always something new to learn with these.
I have been working all of these for 35 years and still love to perform them!

Honorable mention: a rope routine; professor's nightmare, rope with four ends, Daryl rope routine, acrobatic knot, cut and restored. I just couldn't decide on just one.

I can't believe you read what this topic was about. You are saying your Rope Routine is so strong you use it as an opening/introduction routine. Your Sponge Ball routine is you feature number, and so entertaining it holds the audience attention for up to 5 minutes. Finially, your card routine is the perfect closer for your stage act, that will bring applause, and hopefully bring the audience to their feet with a standing ovation.

Bill, if you had read what this post was about you would know that it is for close up or stage. if you can't imagine a great rope routine, a great sponge ball routine, and a great card routine than you have not seen much magic!

Thanks thomasR.

Bill, I was asked what I would do for the rest of my life if I could pick only 3, close up or stage. I went for three I enjoy, think are pretty good, and can work in multiple situations (different ages, different venues). I was not thinking stage since I never do stage.

I'm also confused as to why my choices, given my own limits repertoire, are so abominable compared to one of your own three choices:

Spongeball to Jumbo
Card to ... Effect
Linking Rings

And why my choice copped your ire, but you remained silent over one of dlcmagics:
Chicago Surprise
Liar card trick
ACR w/ TW ringbox ending

Closer - Levitation - either Floating Rose or Floating Table

(and to cheat a little - Gypsy Thread to end touching and small.)
