With so many "torn and restored card" effects out there, I'm wondering what, in your opinion, is the "best" one for you? I'm interested in both gaffed and ungifted versions. I've heard a lot of buzz for a while about Guy Hollingsworth's version but I've seen a bunch more on the market. I love the effect but don't know which way to go with this one. Thanks!

I think that Torn by Daniel Garcia is the best. It certainly looks the best... but it's tough to make it look good. Takes quite a bit of practice and the angles can be troublesome. But I think it's the best looking piece by piece restoration.

Torched and Restored I think is the best flash restoration. It's easy to do and the effect is great.

Those are my two favourites anyways. I'm certainly not an expert on the subject, and there are quite a few I've never even looked at.

There are also some excellent ones that don't use a signed card.

Rick Lax just modified the Tenyo Card Surgery gimmick to come up with this:

Justin Miller has some nice ones too... I might try and learn his Aftershock version next.

I also like Torched and Restored. Hollingworth's is a good version too, very well constructed and routined but requires quite a bit of effort to perform smoothly.

Sans Minds has a great one. You tear up a card, and, erm, restore a completely different one. Genius. Smile

John Menzoza's is worth checking. I like J.C. Wagner's as well.

Darwin Ortiz' "The Marker" is a nice routine. While I'm not a huge fan of his handling, the presentation is by far the best that I have seen for a T&R. It is both entertaining and logical, which is more than can be said for many "watch this" versions of the effect.

Another vote for the JC Wagner T&R. It's my favorite to perform and I've got a great presentation for it. True, it's only a 3/4 restoration but people are aboslutely convinced that you tore the card into four peices, plus I've got a good line for why I don't restore the last peice.

I heard from a friend that anecdotal evidence is actually quite reliable.

Harry Robson's version from his DVD 'Magic Under Fire'.

- ANY card freely selected (no force)
- Signed on the front
- Spectator holds a torn corner throughout
- Card is restored and appears face up back in the deck they are holding
- Hardly any sleights, or angle problems, whatsoever
- No set, or re-set required
- Use any cards

Pure, commercial dynamite!

Dani Daortiz has some interesting thoughts on the T&R plot on disc 2 of Utopia (one of the best DVD sets I own)I was never a fan of the calculated tearing procedures is most versions of the T&R.

I like the look of TR.AP from Blue Crown. I don't own it and don't really do T and R routines. I know Wagners and did it for a while. The new TR.AP really looks strong.
