Do any of you use any godly music in your shows? I have yet to do a full gospel show, but I'm certainly thinking about some songs I might use.

Is it legal to do so?

I'm also wondering if performers can obtain a CCLI#. http://www.ccli.com/ Or is it necessary to obtain an ASCAP license? http://www.ascap.com/licensing/licensingfaq.aspx#general

Maybe even just write the artist and ask permission? lol

Theodore,
I use a lot of Royalty Free Music... some from Arthur Stead and others from freeplaymusic.com
Arthur has some great tunes on "Make it Gospel" that are standards that many people would recognize.
Freeplaymusic.com can be searcehd and I've found some gospel stuff there.
Nathan J. Roberts has some good background music as well - you can find his stuff via Barry Mitchell.
And still other tunes I produce myself via garageband on my Mac.

Though it has been a few years , I used to play harmonica two times a week with a Praise and Worship team. Our church took care of licensing.

Side question. For outside performers coming in , can people use the agreement the churches already have.

Arthur Stead is knowledgable and may have some standard Gospel Songs.
He post here and other Café places.

Asking permission sounds like a good start.

I've been playing with a new band for about a year.
Though we do play at churches it is mostly non sanctuary appearances.

For older audiences I like playing swing low sweet chariot.

Here's me rehearsing.
