Guys -
There's a difference between effect and method. The plot of linking a rubber band to a key goes back well before Alan, and I believe he recognizes this in one of the videos as he explains why this method works best for him. So I don't see any instances of theft here... unless you want to live in a world with only one variant of Three Fly, Ambitious Card, Card Warp, etc. New methods to old plots is what pushes this art forward. But, according to Alan, that's not what's happening here with Shin. If someone else on Dynamo's team created both the effect and method, and Shin is now unjustly selling it, that's obviously not right. Did that actually happen? I don't have a clue, as I can only go off of Alan's word. But Daniel Garcia (another Dynamo consultant) also just posted about this type of theft on his social media... I wonder if it's related. My two cents... Jeff |

Yes, difference between effect and method is very true. But I seen the video that Dynamo did with the phone and its no even close to what shins effect looks like, So not the same method. Is the effect the same, Yes making the phone diss. Is the gimmick the same? Shins looked a lot better. So like you said unless you want to live in a world with only one variant of Three Fly, Ambitious Card, and so on. Then whats wrong with diff methods using a phone diss and turn into glass?

We do not know the full story on this. When consulting for a TV magician, you make more than one method for each trick... you sometimes make TONS. It's possible that Dynamo performed a different handling than the one Shin is using, but it was still created by someone else during the process. I truly don't know the full story. But comparing this situation (which we aren't fully in the know) to Alan "stealing" LinKey is ridiculous.
But yeah, I'm all for new variants... just not stolen ones. |

So how is it "stolen"? Explain. If what the performances show looks different, then how did Shin nick it? Did Alan tell him about it? Let's have all the cards on the table, gentlemen.
The point about keys is that this isn't necessarily stolen at all. Prove it to me. Shin and I have had a bit of a ruck here, so you can rest assured I'm no fanboy. To my mind, no evidence has been presented, apart from Alan repetitiously bleating the same thing over and over again. All that is happening here is an omni-type effect, using what seems to be a fairly clean switch. Claiming theft just seems like b*ll*cks. |

Again, I don't fully know the situation. But if both Alan and Daniel Garcia (who Alan stated worked on this idea on page 1) are saying it's theft, there is probably more to it.

Sorry, but what case is difficult to remove? Every iPhone case I have ever owned can be removed in about 2 seconds. Most any of the Otterbox cases actually. A quick Google search will find you many people who think so.

In the instance of the porper key it was different mechanics to get the same goal of a released effect and solve a few issue it has. The linking key goes back before porper as well and no one person can claim credit or originality to it! However. This effect dosnt go back before any of us and uses the same gimmicks.. There is the issue!
Now I am not saying that things cant be progressed I am saying things cant be outright stolen which Shin has done to much of! |

An omni effect? Really? Jeeze. So you guys left the logo on. Wow. That's amazing. And you switched it. Wow. That's amazing.

Not with a phone and a slow visual change no...

With omni bloody everything out there, and given Shin's natural liking for clear visual changes, can you really claim foul on this? Pal, I really think you need to think about this. I am fairly harsh myself, but this stuff is obvious. I have to tell you that personally I don't like it. I don't like "omni" anything. I hate it, in fact. That's just my taste. It's so bloody obvious. You're creating a 'How Did He Switch It Twice?' moment as opposed to a "What The F***?' moment. Both are powerful, but I want the latter.

It sounds like you guys should be credited, but if he has come out with a method and manufactured it, then fair f***s to him. |

You're creating a 'How Did He Switch It Twice?' moment That is one thing the trailer doesn't show. How do you give them their phone back? Just pull it out of your pocket and say "I'm just kidding, here". The get into might be un-expected but how do you change it back without them burning you? I hope that it's covered on the instrucions but the trailer doesn't show it at all which means there might not be a method for it.

IClear looks very, very visual, I like it a lot. And I hope there will be a black version, otherwise one would have to figure out some lines to address a color change as well
As for the stealing-thing: I really hope that this one is not stolen, and up until anybody comes up with a prove I will consider Shin Lim _not_ guilty.... |
