Hi Gang, Just wondering if you have or know of anyone who has the Intercessor gimmick and whether they use standard bicycles or go with Gaetan Blooms suggestion of using fourner cards? For those who have the gimmick you'll know the problems that can occur with the bicycle deck, have you been pulled up or caught out using these cards? On the DVD Gaetan said you can get Fourner duplicate decks, but I've searched high and low and can't find them, just the 505's he uses.....anyone seen them? This is the reason I've been hesitant on testing the effect on the public, I only have bicycles.. any help appreciated Cheers Kel |

Bicycle cards especially those bought in "bulk" like at Sams' have issues with decentration of the printing in the back. To the keen observer, the offset can be a giveaway of the use of a duplicate. I do not think however, that this is even noticed by the common lay public.
Just my two cents. javascript:emoticon(':bluebikes:') hbenod |

Thanks Hbenod,
I also plan to do this as a stage effect. It shows up in a chicken nugget after I accidently kill to birds (one latex the other mechanical) so hopefully that will make it even harder for the person. It's not like he's going to stand there in front of an auidience and yell, "Hang on a sec, let me check the match" I just didn't want it to be glaringly obvious. Cheers Kel |

Try Phoenix Decks, they are specially made for magicians, are the "better Bicycles", made by USPC in Casino grade and one benefit is the centered cut. Find out more here: www.release-the-power.com

I have never had a problem with bikes, where I live in Spain they are hard to find. Fourier on the other hand are sold everywhere.

I saw Gaeton Bloom perform this at the Bristol Day of Magic last Sunday. When he got to the climax he didn't allow the spectator long to match up the cards.

An additional comment on Bikes and the Intercessor: if you are using cheaper decks form Walmart or other department stores they could cause problems. Department stores carry a cheaper grade of Bikes than other sources. Order them by the brick from USPCC and this should be less of a problem. What happens is as the cutting dies wear the boarder get slightly off. They may also runt the lower grade decks faster to produce more decks in a shorter period of time. But, if you choose to use the cheaper decks, simply test some cards from one deck to see how the printing and borders look with two or more decks. Run several deuces or tres through the Intercessor and compare the results. If there are gross differences between two decks then don't use them for your Intercessor routine.

And, BTW, since the Intercessor should be used with a full or nearly full deck this thread should probably be moved out of Deckless and into Gaffed and Funky.

Just got the Intercessor and I am very impressed with both the gimic and the concept
but I don't see the advantage of this item/effect over what I have been doing up until now ie let the spec tear the card up...drop the bits in your hand ....hand them back a piece to hold and then match their very own torn piec with the impossible location card... I can't get away from the fact that if they tear5 the card up the end reveal is so much more powerful than the Intercessor reveal peter |

Same here. No problem with Bikes. I do make sure that I am using cards, at least for the torn card and the restored card, that are well centered. I just cull out the matching card from the deck I am going to use and sub in the duplicate that I will tear for the effect.
