Double Back
NFW Virginia City Shuffle with my own "Arizona" patter and story about the Tombstone Shuffle- since I live here in Tucson. Nice to see I'm not the only one who has issues with Stand Up Monte if I'm not doing it regularly.

My favs would be: Duvivier's Printing (my own handling and surprise cards) It's amazing that for a "Wild Card"-type routine that the cards can be handled by anyone, at the end... not that I condone examining props, but it's fun to end that clean. Gaeton Bloom's Visible Monte (the visible change, and the visible vanish of one card is about as close to real magic as you can get) The Famous Five Card Trick! (my version of Kaps' Homing Card) Very hard to limit this list to just three choices. Runners up would be Back Again, Color Monte, and my own Billiard Hall Bandit.

Having to carry extra packets of tricks is not something I'm interested in.
For this reason I prefer: dr daley's last trick the twins twisting the aces etc.

I can see what you guys mean about Stand Up Monte! It is a monster effect...but I could see how not performing it daily would make it difficult to remember.

I've performed 8 card brainwave. The reactions I got were just OK. Some people love it and use it all the time though.

One set has fast food restaurants, one has beers, the other has sodas. It makes it a little more interseting. Sometimes I do the beer version, then ask if they want to see the "kids" version also and then I pull out the soda one. Half the time they pick the same colour card which is probably best, but half the time they pick a different colour card than they did from the first time and you get kind of a kicker ending where they think they fooled you but in fact you show them that they still picked an odd backed card. So when I do the trick twice with two different sets of cards, it makes the odds go to 1/64 that I would get both correct which I think makes it a lot stronger. |
