What are your favorite films/movies featuring or including magic, magicians, or related? Favorite documentaries?
Some favorite films/movies: Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971), The Illusionist (2006), The Prestige (2006), Hugo (2011), and Now You See Me (2013). The Sting (1973) may not feature magic; though, as I recall, it briefly features the hands of John Scarne (or Martin Nash). Shade (2003) has some great demonstrations. Favorite documentaries: The Story of Magic (A&E) (1997), Lost Magic Decoded (Steve Cohen) (2012), and Deceptive Practices (Ricky Jay) (2012). I vaguely recall an old black-and-white clip featuring a card demonstration on a train (perhaps including the Cardini overhand multiple shift)!? Anyone else remember this!? Andrew P.S. I thought The Story of Magic was truly outstanding! |
