I have what I would consider relatively large hands and still have more problems with dollar sized coins than halves but that may just be because I learned all my coin magic with halves (and adapted some to quarters for borrowed stuff). Although, I have seen some people with relatively small hands do some amazing stuff with silver dollars. I guess it is just what you prefer or care to put the time into.

I purchased CCC from vanishing inc, the dvd and the coins some time ago.
The coins turned out to be feng shui coins wich (as most of you know) are rather brittle. In one phase of my performance I would say to the spectator some thing along the lines of "check that it is a normal coin, that it doesn't bend" and at one occasion the spectator bent the coin breaking it in two! Another time I forgot about the coin in the pocket (I ditch the coin in my back pocket)and when I sat down it broke in two as well. I have since invested in the sturdier chinese coins that Vanishing inc sells and I don't tell the spectator to bend the coin anymore... Great routine! Mikael Johansson Sweden

I pruchase Lance's routine at the magic apple sans dvd . Can the DVD still be purchase . I cant seem to find it.
God's grace rocks! It makes a good cups and balls routine look pretty boring in comparison.

Dan & Dave sell it exclusively now (as of my purchase a while back from D&D and from Lances website info). Maybe someone has the dvd they may want to sell second hand?

The routine re charmed is in Lance Pierce lecture notes "elements" which is available on his website . It has a lot of great magic which I think is a better value than buying a single effect , good luck

I own both, and prefer Lance's Recharmed.
No comparison prop-wise, the coins that come with the Vanishing Inc. set are thin, brittle, and sound tinny. If I didn't know better, I'd think Lance's coins were valuable. Heavy brass, perfectly antiqued, great sound. Routine-wise, I'll learn both, but am leaning toward Lance's as I think it has a nicer flow. |

After playing with both for over a year and a half, I have to say they both have equal merits. I like both routines and do whichever I feel like at the time. I originally wanted to try and combine the two for a routine but have found each seems to have been made with the particular props in mind. The ribbon from Troy's routine works perfectly for his moves and the rat tail from Lance's is great for his. However, each can be cumbersome (to an extent) when used with the others moves. I am not saying it is not do-able, just that I have given to leaving well enough alone.

I have both and look at the moves as interchangable at each stage. I have not been able to get the last coin "off and on" move down, but Lance will be here in Dallas soon and I look to pin him down.
As to the coins. I like that the D and D coins are dark; less flash between the fingers, and they have a good feel. Personaly (with small hands) I wish they were a bit smaller... larger that a half, but smaller than a dollar, and I wish they were thinner. I like putting the "three as two" in the spectators hand, but I do think its easy for the audence to make out 3 coins due to their thickness. |

Scott, The instructions are not that great. I don't know how people figure out this move with just the instructions. Go to the Dan and Dave site and watch the move in slow motion as many times as it takes while reading the instructions. You'll get it. |

There is also some detail of the last "on off" phase in the beginning where he references the move as a Michael Ammar move and gives a couple books as reference. I am fortunate to have one of the books (an E-Book I got 60% off at L&L epub) "The Magic of Michael Ammar" (it can also be found in his earlier "Encore" series of books). Therefore, I was able to look up a better description of the move. I also agree since it is a main move in the effect, It should have been taught in better detail.

In the magic of Michael Ammar's volume 3. He demostrates the coin switch and it looks beautiful of course not with a Chinese coin and string

We may be talking about different moves. The move I have difficulty understanding is just before the last coin. You have the coin with the ribbon at the Left finger tips and the other coin hidden in the Right hand. The effect is to pluck the coin off of the ribbon and then pop it back on the ribbon. I don't see how Ammar teaches that without a hole and string. |

I think we are all on the same move (the final on/off the string before vanishing the final coin) Is that correct?
If so - Look on the third page of written instructions of Re-Charmed (if you have the pocket size booklet from D&D). The move is the Micheal Ammar Fingertip Spellbound Change. Lance is simply doing it with a coin with and without a string (he even explained the move using a copper and a silver coin in the example) It is talked about before he teaches the rest of the effect so you have reference when you get to that part.

The Fingertip Spellbound move is simple - easy to do and deceptive. I really like it! However getting the on & off the string done well is another story. It is "explained" (kinda) in very few words and none of the photos show it well. It's not impossible to get it but it sure isn't easy the way it is explained, in my opinion.

I agree Jim. I am just trying to clarify any part of it I can help with. I notice that Lance refers to others in a few of his works that I own. He gives a brief description then another source "he encourages you to study" (almost like homework) I don't really mind - too much (a little maybe) but the research usually leads me to learn new stuff I may not have ever seen if I hadn't gone to that alternative source.
As far as this particular move in question, I have the Ammar book and do not think that his explanation is too much better than what Lance gives. This is certainly a routine that I wish would have come with at least a link to a streaming video explanation (if not a dvd).

Some of the comments here inspired to drag out my set of Chinese coins and try again -- my crippled fingers not liking either approach much.
I ove the effect and the subtleties of both approaches but don't really like either third phase. Armed with the knowledge that the explanations provided may not be the best I just played around to accomplish the desired result -- a "no fumbling" way of melting the final coin off. AT the end of the second phase the single coin is dangling from the cord over the right fingers. I just lay the coin on my open left fingers to display with the cord over the fingers and the right hand in Point. I take the coin and cord in my right fingertips and hand to a spectator on the right side to hold in fist. My empty left hand gives the cord ends to another spectator. (both hands empty) They execute the final. Of course, I can't do a "back on" but end clean. Anyone wanting to discuss method drop me a line.

Since this thread has been brought back from the dead. What are people’s thoughts on the “New Release” of CCC by Troy Hooser?
Personally, I love the fact that coins (as well as a proper sized long that of ribbon) are included. Now when one needs to get a new ribbon, they know what kind to get because they have played around with the proper material. I accidentally bought a weird kind of ribbon the first time that curled badly after a few practice runs then went out and got the right stuff. The coins in the new set are also Dollar sized, which I like because that is what I was using to begin with. In the first version he used Half Dollar sized Sterling Magic coins (IIRC). Besides the nice packaging, the coins and ribbon, along with the video link which can be streamed or downloaded, there are not a lot of changes, but there are some he has come up with thru the years. The thing that I really liked about the coins is that they are the same on both sides which will cover any discrepancies as to the position of the coins before and after a move. To put it simply, you don’t show 3 coins with Chinese letters and after pulling one away having one with letters and one with a dragon (that happened to me once using another brand of Chinese halves). Also, if you are happy with the original routine and just want to “Upgrade” your coins to really nice Dollar size ones, Vanishing Inc sells the coins single or in gradual sets for a reasonable price.
