Hello folks,
I'm searching for a new blindfold method for my acts. In my eyes, (duct) Tape blindfolds are more convincing than a scarf, aluminium floil, both combined or even a steel blindfold. At last the two most interesting methods I've found are the "Duct Tape Blindfold" by Kenton Knepper and "Blindfold Tips" by John Archer. But what are the cons and pros of these two? The only thing that comes into my mind is the blindfold of John Archer uses coins and duct tape, what's is my opinion a absolutely a pro. I hope you can help me, and maybe tell me which would suggest to take/prefer. Yours sincerely Prometheus

You can also combine duct tape, coins and a steel blindfold... Only a thought

Thank you guys. I already used the search application but didn't find really much about it. So I take Kabbalah's advice.
See you there. Yours sincerely Prometheus

I don't think Kenton's is available anymore. From what I understand it's an unusual v*** angle. Archer's is more of the standard thing.

I have both. Get Archer's, it's superb. Kenton's I found to be...weak.

The most obvious upside of "Blindfold Tips", for me at least, was getting to see John Archer perform.

Is anybody using a hood anymore? I always thought it made the effect seem even more impossible.

Has anyone here ever watched Jay Leno's Garage?
He has a segment a couple of times a season when he blindfolds some car expert and has them identify a car by touch and sound and experiencing the car on the road. My point is, every time he places the blindfold over someone's eyes he makes funny gestures and punches at them to see if they'll flinch to check if they're really blinded. The person in the blindfold is made the butt of a joke. Now, with Jay Leno it's all in good fun, and the person in the blindfold is usually a buddy of his. But, doesn't that raise the question about how dignified a performer would look with a participant making faces, and or waving their hands in front of your face during a performance. I'm not saying don't use them, but I don't know if I care to lose control of a performance by even "feinting" blindness. Besides, you lose eye contact... and it must diminish your effectiveness to have your face covered. Just thinking out loud. Blindfold advocates are free to disagree. Oscar |
