I just had a friend build me a sword holder for my Abbott's Sword Basket. The lights are LEDs that we rigged with a rechargeable battery pack (hidden in back of unit attached with velcro). I'm so happy with the final results
When we first sketched it out my friend said it's gonna look like a "menorah"! I got nervous about how it was going to look, but with the swords in it, I think it looks good, real good. What do you guys think? Mark http://i809.photobucket.com/albums/zz17/......770e.jpg http://i809.photobucket.com/albums/zz17/......770e.jpg

Great job, the addition of the lights is a nice touch.

I't needs that final touch.
Two elements: Red accent trim horizontally around the base, which mimics the table A two-tone star-burst (or half moon inside a half moon) in greens, on the face which will complement the basket.

Mark,
Very nicely done, clean look for the holder and really professional. John

That is a great idea with the accent red trim. I have been on the lookout for some kind of accent medallion, I do like the starburst idea! Thanks for your input. Mark

Maybe something like this
There are hundreds of others. That's what I could find in 3 minutes.... Maybe something that looks more woven. something Celtic - possibly. Or a painted green two-tone semicircle starburst. That would be less expensive and will complement the basket.

This is totally personal opinion, so here goes...
I like the LEDs since they highlight the blades on the swords. However, I'm not sure about decorating the base, other than just a simple "something" to break up the flat black surface. The illusion is not about the sword holder or even the basket - it's about what you can do magically. The other thing is that you have one sword that looks vaguely medieval (or medieval fantasy) and four Samurai swords. Not a big deal, but they really don't go together, expecially with a basket that (from what I could see) doesn't relate to a period or a geographical area. That's why I would keep any decor on the sword base simple and not introduce another decorative element that's tied to a period or a culture. Something simple might be a thin stripe that follows the curve of the holder, i.e., an upside down "U" shape. I would do this in chrome to agree with the sword blades you're lighting up.
