Hi - I've been working on my presentation of Wild Card, and was wondering if anyone could recommend a nice effect to follow it up with. I'm looking for something that involves some of the cards I would have on the table after finishing Wild.
Any thoughts would be very much appreciated. |

If you are talking about adding another card effect onto the end of the wild card routine I think that it is not a good idea. Wild Card is strong enough to stand alone in my opinion.

Drmagico - I agree that Wild Card should stand alone. I was looking for something that would be a good trick to perform after it, and that would possibly use some of the same cards. I' would like to do a few more card tricks after this, and didn't want to have to put these cards all away and then bring out other cards for the next trick.

Considering it's a packet trick it might be wise to do something else other than a card effect, then come back with a full deck and go from there.

Buy a one-way force deck consisting of the cards you end up with for your Wild Card routine. That gives you spares so you can add on an "explanation" about why that particular card is so magical... by attempting to tear it up and having it restore itself. I like Daniel Garcia's "Torn" for a particularly magical restoration, and the signed card can be handed out as a souvenir since you can easily replace it from your secret "stash."

Thanks guys. I really like the idea of using a one-way force deck made up of the "wild" card. That's great.

I don't do a lot of card stuff but I do like the one way deck idea, great thinking.

Lance Pierce has the nicest handling of Wild Card that I have ever seen. It is influenced by Darwin Ortiz's routine from his book At the Card Table.
The vanishes and main part of the routine are very nice, but what really elevates Lance's routine into stellar is the laydown of the cards. It really blows everything else away in my opinion. It might also satisfy your desire to follow Wild Card with another effect. It is in Lance's "Elements" lecture book, but there are plans to release it as a separate release that also comes with the cards. Get the notes....you will not regret it. Also, if this comes out with the cards be sure and get that as well. Anything with Lance's name on it is worth studying. I use Ace of Spades and the Joker for my routine. If you really want to use it to move to another effect, you could have them sign one of the regular cards at the end of Wild Card and do ambitious card or card to wallet or any other effect using a single card. |

You could also use the four regular cards in the end for a matrix routine. Have the coins travel from card to card or have the cards signed and let them travel under Jumbo Cards.

How about using Wild Card as a finalé effect in a longer card act? In other words, look for effects which go with Wild Card, but precede it.
Also, look at Mike Close's We're All Clowns on this Bus, AKA Send in the Cl@ne$ from his Worker's Series. It's a cool effect that is similar to Wild Card.
