Just curious, what single (as in only 1) card tricks are out there?

You mean that have just the appearance of only being one card, or actually only use one card?

If you're truly only using one, you're kind of limited. Produce it, make it vanish, torn and restored. Paul Harris, Tommy wonder and Kenton Knepper have work on a torn and restored done with only one card.

Cool, pepka - you're a font of knowledge! Smile

With the appearance of only one card, I guess you could also do a transformation.

The one where you cut a door flap in a card and get them to hold the flap then put the card behind their back and when you bring it back they are on other side of the card even though they haven't let go. Great trick. Don't know who came up with it. A friend showed me. I call it reality twister. Cause I twist their arm behind their back and twist their reality with the trick.

Card Warp with one card and a bill.

Warp One...

If you like mentalism effects, RedDevil's Deckwavoque from 777 uses only one card.

Yeah, but if you transform a card into another....you have more than one card. The audience might only be AWARE of one, but you have more than one...unless it's a double-facer. Harry, GREAT call on the impromptu linking card. I've played with a few, but forgot about that one!

Stickmondoo, the card that turns inside out with the flap and hole in the middle is David Britland's "Parallax" originally marketed through Martin Breese. I mentioned it in my book "Magic From The Overground" as a good routine for the strolling performer (p.217).

Back to the thread, Peter Kane once published some lecture notes called "One Card Wonders". This is one of the effects that was in it:

Harry's one card linking card he mentions above is a perfect impromptu one card item (and a good way of getting rid of well used cards Smile

Sexten Beme's one card link. Takes a lot of preparation but is the only linking card effect that I know of where you can hand out the card in linked condition. Definately NOT impromptu though.

I heard from a friend that anecdotal evidence is actually quite reliable.
