When Cosby was directly asked at the deposition if he secretly put drugs in women's drinks, his attorney objected to the question and directed Cosby NOT to answer it.

Why do you suppose he did that? Just take a wild guess.

It should also be noted that prior to that deposition, Cosby had always denied giving women drugs to facilitate sex. AFTER that deposition, the case was quickly settled and Cosby's attorneys managed to get the contents of that deposition sealed. And then, ten years later, they were unsealed over the vigorous objection of his attorneys.

Do you see what the problem was? When Cosby was asked if he procured quaaludes for the purpose of inducing women to have sex and answered "Yes," I think his attorney may have been taken by surprise, because Cosby had never admitted to that before. When the followup question came, the attorney quickly objected, realizing that he should have directed his client not to answer the first question either. After a private conference with his lawyer, Cosby came back and said that it was benedryl and made no further reference to quaaludes. Hence my question, was he lying before or was he lying now?

Why do you suppose his attorneys advised Cosby to settle? (It's really not hard to figure out.)

The deposition, of course, vindicates the more than two dozen women who have accused Cosby of secretly drugging them- the same women who he has consistenly called liars over the years.)

A good lawyer advises you to say NOTHING! I have no proof Bill Cosby secretly doped those women and neither do you. the OP say Cosby admits drug seduction... where exactly is that? He said he purchased drugs intending to use them but I don't see where he admits using Ludes to do such an evil deed. Where did he actually say that?
Where is the proof? Is this still America?

Well if this forum is any indication of who is on the left it should not be that astonishing to you. Check back on thousands of posts concerning political issues that are called being left or right and see if it is not the same people over and over and over again that are on the left.
If I were to agree with you. Then we would both be wrong. As of Apr 5, 2015 10:26 pm I have 880 posts. Used to have over 1,000

Did you really post that first sentence with a straight face? That is like me saying, I lean to the right a bit.

Have they arrested Bill yet? Has he been convicted of a crime? Has he been sentenced to jail or prison? Who was the judge? Who was the jury?

Yet it seems many of you want to be the executioner Smile

What is more interesting in these sort of cases is the people who have covered it up over a long time.

I think landmark makes the same claim. The far left always think of themselves as being mainstream.

Like I said, I only look far left to you because you have fallen off the far edge of the right. Most of today's right wing would consider Eisenhower to be an extreme leftist, and even Reagan would have a hard time getting Republican support today if he ran on the policies he actually implemented rather than upon the rewritten image they've created for him.

I'd suggest that some of you couldn't even define what "liberal," "left," "far left," or "progressive" actually mean.

I would agree with your last statement. But probably for different reasons than you imagine. I feel it has a lot to do with the individual and the definition is not etched in stone or can be really defined as a definite. We probably toss around left and right, far left and right, and extreme left and right much too easily without thinking it through.

Isn't "drug seduction" equal to rape?

And now the plaintiff's attorney in the current case has filed a motion demanding the release of the ENTIRE deposition from ten years ago. Cosby's attorneys, of course, are in vehement opposition to that.

There is still one criminal charge, however, that is still under investigation by prosecutors as the assault took place in 2008 and the ten year statute of limitations hasn't run out.

And, yes, "drug seduction," often involved in "date rape," is a criminal offense EVEN IF the victim knowingly took the drug. The only issue is whether she consented to sex- something that's hard to do when you are unconscious.

In England we have no statute of limitations. The statute of limitations seems a silly law to me.

Actually, in England and Wales you DO have the Limitation Act of 1980, which applies to civil actions.:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limitation_Act_1980

As to criminal matters:

Quote:
Magistrates courts

In relation to criminal matters Section 127 of the Magistrates Court Act 1980 [4] states, as a general principle subject to exceptions, that:

a magistrates’ court shall not try an information or hear a complaint unless the information was laid, or the complaint made, within 6 months from the time when the offence was committed, or the matter of complaint arose.

'information is laid for the purposes of section 127 of the Magistrates' Courts Act 1980 when it is received at the office of the clerk to the justices for the relevant area'. It is not necessary for the information to be personally received by a justice of the peace or by the clerk of the justices.[5]

Higher courts

Unlike other European countries the UK has no statute of limitations applying to serious sexual crimes.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limitation......_matters

But you are correct in stating that there would be no statute of limitations on the sexual offenses alleged against Cosby were the cases brought in the UK.

Which raises an interesting question- Has Cosby traveled or entertained extensively in the UK and are there possible UK victims as well?

Agree he's not been charged or convicted. But would you let your daughter stay over at his house for the weekend?

We do have some time limits on some things: as I recall with motoring offences etc, they have six months to issue a summons.
