Was thinking about what are the rarest books in mentalism? I usually first think of Berglas' Mind and Magic--that had 1000 copies and they usually go for around $500 and up. Peter Turner's first Bigger Fish only had 75 copies (I think Bigger Fish 2 had 100). What other books out there do you consider the rarest in mentalism?

For serious collectors, the rarest are the ones we do not discuss in public forums.

Exactly. Also let's not confuse a limited-edition marketing approach releases with true rarities.
Some of these limited edition are quite readily available and aren't selling for a fraction of the cost used. Two different things. |

I think Peter Turner's "Book of Demons" and Ted Karmilovich "No prop nightclub act"
I have not heard anything about these books, except that it is a limited release, and the effects described in them - incredible. |

My "The Art of Mentalism" is long out of print. Even the second edition is pretty rare.

I've heard that Pepe Grenouille's Memetic Manual is changing hands for a lot of GBPs, usually at conventions, I've certainly never seen it on ebay. I don't know how many copies were originally produced, but it was only double figures.

I suspected when I saw the title that PT would top your list.
I'm less interested myself in rare books and interested in great books. Sometimes the two may collide but not necessarily.

There are books on the 39 Steps to Mentalism that are practically unavailable. The following two come to mind:
* Out of the Deep Freeze by Ford Kross * The Shiels Effect by Tony Shiels |
