Wasn't quite sure where this is supposed to go, so I'm posting it here. I'm a lurker who comes by every so often to check in on the online magic community.
While going through some stuff that I've had for years, I ended up rediscovering my Ghost Glass solution and playing with it by writing a message on my bathroom mirror - to the horror of my roommate when she discovered the message later. Problem now is, it doesn't seem to want to come out. I've tried regular old mirror cleaning liquid. I've tried alcohol and scraping it with a razor... Not sure how else I can get rid of it. Any ideas?

If all else fails, read the directions, is the motto for all products.
Heat will weakens it over time, but you could try ammonia or bleach solution or any of the strong cleaning degreasers on the market. Or, learn from your lesson and buy a new bathroom mirror and install it. |

Well, thank you very much for your help. I'll keep on experimenting then and see how it goes.

If you just want to erase the message, use the original solution to wipe over the entire mirror and then go sin* no more.
* If you're using the product I use for the effect, there's a warning not to use it on indoor glass - for exterior use only. Of course, magicians do that all the time, but they've been warned.

Maybe Goo Gone will work, get it at hardware stores. If this doesn't take it off, I'm afraid you are left only with installing a new mirror or vanity cabinet. You can get them at home improvement centers like Lowe's or Menards.

Thanks! I'll try that out, if it comes down to it, Jim. (It's Ghost Glass II from Viking's, but I've lost track of the original instructions years ago).
And thanks, Bill. I'll see if I can find that at the Home Depot down the street.. Otherwise, it will just say, "Die, Name, die!" for the foreseeable future... When pranks go wrong, eh?
