My prototype deck was even lighter the the finished prop. About half as gray. Used that for about 10 months, with no problems. I don't mind if people don't like my work, or feel that it isn't for them, or that it doesn't fit their style, or that the effect isn't strong enough. However, I do take issue with claims that it doesn't work, because that is simply not true. |

I've seen this deck in action. It's a baiting effect and I assure you that it *definitely* works!

The product works as advertised, very well I must add. It's just not for my performance style. If you perform parlour or stage then this is for you. I still think a full deck of blanks should be included as part of this utility deck. Grey ones, not white.

Mine is being delivered in the next two days. I am nervous about it because it cost me a lot and the reviews so far are a mixed bag. I will post my opinions here when I receive my deck.

It's as simple as this:
If you can use a deck that looks printed up close but looks blank from just a few feet away, then you will not be disappointed. This does that very well. If you can not use a deck that looks printed up close but looks blank from just a few feet away, then you shouldn't buy this. (And for those of you that just work close up... Why even get it?) |

Ordered. Waiting. This will fit my performance style PERFECTLY. Can't wait to use it. I don't use a lot of dual reality, but I loved 100th Monkey and I'm sure I will love this.

It's not that the product doesn't work as advertised, it does. It's just, in my opinion it doesn't work very well. For me personally, I will not work this effect because I think the cards aren't very clear close up at all. Obviously, the design is fully researched and is the best that can be printed to disappear far away, but close up it is not as clear as I thought they would be. Therefore I am disappointed. I also think there will be massive problems with the chosen spectator 'taking' and revealing to the audience what they can see on the cards. Magicians might keep quiet but laymen won't. Above all that, I genuinely don't even think this effect is even particularly strong at all. All my opinions but I trust more people are going to be disappointed in this than those that will have a use for it. Easily more. We need to give a balanced opinion on this product and let people make their own minds up. These are my shortfalls. This product should 1000 percent be bypassed by any true close up performer. This is for mini-stage only. And, I'd recommend picking an audience member who has incredible vision and cannot speak. Just my two cents.

Thanks for that demo, Tom, especially for the Poker trick. I couldn't quite grasp that one from the write-up.

To be honest, even in the trailer of the first performance the spectator really had to struggle to get close up for her to see the card and to me looked like she was looking in a corner of the card for some reason looking for something. If I were in the audience and that happened I would think the card value is printed on there somewhere and its quite small/hard to read which is why the spectator get really close to see it then say she seen a card, but from a distance you cant see the card. Just speaking out loud what the audience would think - I'm not saying this from a magicians pov from knowing how it works either etc.

They might do afterwards, but then there's a lot of other things to talk about as well. What you are worried about doesn't happen. The audience and the spectator believe they've seen the same thing, therefore this particular detail isn't the first thing that they want to talk about. Quote:

Some food for thought: when you buy the kit you will also receive a d****e bl**k card (also a d****e ba** red backlank face).
So you can switch a selection into a blank blank card (after the card was selected). This way you can even increase the effect for the isolated spectator. It was already mentioned that slight movement of the cards will help to blur the images even more. They are hardly seen anyways. When you buy the cards you should be aware of its You can also play with the cards (turning them over from one side to another) and show the blank backs. While you turning them over, nobody is ever able to see any outlines. When you show the cards to your audience or spectator, why not show their backs! (after the card was selected up close). |

I'm not so sure that a spectator 'struggling' to see the image is an issue.
To the selected spec, she is trying to see the image. To the audience, she is someone who is not seeing anything, but is being shown a specific card, and is taking a closer look to make sure she is not missing anything (that it really is blank). "As you can see, the cards are not properly finished yet..." General and accurate info to the spec, and accurate (but a wink) to the audience.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".
