This is something that was on my 'to do' list, finally made one....pics attached. This is a cool looking side table the moves across the stage and brings your top hat or other needed item to you.

In the early '50s, I was in the Navy, stationed at the Naval Air Station in Norfolk, VA. Bob McAllister, was a pal. He bought an electronic table. I think it was an Anverdi prop.
He was booked for a party at NAS, in a building next to a radar installation. (I'm no technician, I don't know what sort of installation it was.) Bob came "on", said something funny, and, threw the switch in his pocket, to bring on his props. The table "entered" and, apparently by itself, proceeded to "move" erratically, all over the platform! Bob "gave chase" (it wasn't part of the act!) and, finally "captured" the $$%@ thing. He had a show stop laugh before he started his act!

I think Del Ray had a similar electronic (rolling) table, too, didn't he?

Great story Dick! Electronics have come a long way, they are more reliable nowadays.
A few years back I built a much more complex electronic table which I still use for special events. Del Ray was a friend of mine and he was the inspiration for this, below is a clip... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqXKoXxG_N4 |

Some clever visual bits!!! You're right! It "appears" (!) that electronics HAVE come a long way!
About 40 years ago, the SAM Assembly in Cleveland, OH Assembly "ran" a couple regional type conventions. I remember working one. Del Ray worked it, too. We had a nice talk. I really enjoyed his stage act. "Butch" almost stole the show! The "marquee" on the front of the table really intrigued me! I LOVED the rising card! I finally saw his close up act in a tape at Jon Racherbaumer's in New Orleans a few years ago. --Just fabulous! The only "problem" that Del had, was that he had to drive every where!

That looks pretty cool
BTW, glanced at the images you had below your image, loved the little coffin. This has me considering building one for myself, that tracks me and follows me if I pace around the stage.... or perhaps runs from me :> That would be pretty easy to do with something like a picmicro or arduino and a bluetooth receiver. |

"PICMICRO"..."ARDUINO'...Hey! Taterini "chastised" me for throwing in a few Latin expressions awhile back!
We're supposed to speak English in the Café!!!!! Sheesh!

Bur just in case I usually write ideas down anyway, even if not pursued immediately. Ya never know when they might come in handy later. Btw. Picmicro is English ( American company with some awesome tech). though arduino is Italian I think. Maybe design the table similar to big dog. Of course! And, I got a good laugh out of your pulling! (It just seemed like a good place to add a chuckle.)
Tout a vous!!! P.S. Someday, I'll do a little essay on "pulling your leg".

Dick, between you, me, and Mr. Taterini, I think we have all been fooled by that which we excel at dishing out!

Here is the same idea of a moving side table I adapted to a standard 'Atta Boy', I took the drape away so the mechanics in operation are exposed...
