I going to perform at a church in a couple of weeks and I don't have a lot to perform. Does anyone know any good stage magic that I might know?
So far the list goes: Miser's Dream Routine, a mentalist thing, and Eggbeater Mindreader. Can you guys think of any more? Thanks. |

Hi Lizix,
With your show date so near, it's typically not a good idea to introduce a new trick that you learned just days before. My rule for adding a new trick into My act is: "Never add a trick into the act that you just learned last week". Unless you are a working, full-time, professional magician, a week or two just doesn't give you enough time to practice a new trick, revise it to your own style, create a unique patter that fits your character, discover all the things that could go wrong during the effect, develop an "out" for some of those things that could go wrong, decide where it best fits into your current act, and perform it enough times to where you feel comfortable performing it as a regular part of your act. Maybe others learn a new trick one day and try it out in their act the next. Personally, I would rather have a short act that I feel comfortable and confident with, than to add one or two tricks to it last minute because I was given more time to perform. You will probably do just great by performing those 3 things that you feel comfortable and confident with. Your ACT conforms to the 'rule of three', which is a good thing! Best wishes on your show! Please let us know what you decided to do and how it all went afterwards! Joe Marotta "Leave them always wanting more, NOT them always wanting to leave!" |

I would have to agree with Joe, I would go with the short act, that you are good with. If you do decide to try a new trick, place it in between two tricks you do really well.
I like those links and they will help you down the road. Kevin |
