Here is something I have never seen before that has totally befuddled me. What do you think?
Any ideas how it works or any ideas on building this? I'm blown away!

After watching this explanation, I see I have been duped...... again.
-or- Still, it is fun to be duped once in a while........

This is the Winston Freer tile puzzle. Search by that name and you'll find many more examples. The one shown in your original video is one of the nicest made I've seen.

Are you sure this is the Winston Freer tile puzzle? This demonstration uses a switch of a piece. There are many demonstrations of this type that use no switch at all.
I thought the Winston Freer puzzle did not require a switch. |

It's some sort of geometry anomaly I think. No switch required.
You can practice it yourself with a bar of chocolate. |

Right but the one in the video above is more of a magic trick and uses a switch. It's pretty clumsy because he merely uses a camera edit rather than some magician's move.
As I said the Winston Freer puzzle uses NO switch. |

To be honest I didn't look at the videos very closely
I assumed it was based on this http://youtu.be/liI7rm5o1Rc |

They are all related but with their own little twists. The reveal video does not explain the Winston Freer puzzle exactly as the Winston Freer does not require a switch but uses a different method to accomplish the same thing. The Geometry is the same.

I am kind of laughing about this sudden rage in this new trick that Winston Freer came up with over 50 years ago. Karl Norman was the first I saw do it and Karl made them. Then some guys started making them newer and fancier looking. Karl were simple yardstick pieces for the frame and hand painted tiles. It was very effective. Peter Tappan came up with a good story line for it.
Now it is being mass produced by injection molding to look like candy bars and every else. I still think Karl's version was the most ordinary and effective. But people should spend a little time researching and exploring the old stuff as there are a lot of real gems there.

Meir Yedid is selling a neat (made in China) Dark Chocolate version with a clever storyline.

The Freer puzzle shown in the video was made by John Rogers of the magic cigars fame.

Not too long ago in M.U.M. or The Linking Ring a similar puzzle was described and the method/handling disclosed. I don't remember by whom.

Yes, I think John Rogers made it with and without numbers. The grey material and frame are sure signs of Rogers’ model.n
