I have to say After Hours by DC. Beautifully choreographed illusion, with great music.

Water Levitation - DC
Flying - DC
Laser Illusion - DC

I think (speaking about new illusions) the SUSPENDED ANIMATION is something that will make the history!

Doug Henning's "Things That Go Bump In The Night", especially the original version when first televised LIVE way back when - the massive TIGER at the end blew everyone watching away - it was a moment of incredible magic - and it sparked almost all of the popularity of "magic to follow" - but more importantly it was just an incredible (and at the time never before seen) illusion.

I love watching DC's old stuff that had a bit of a story line to it. The one in which a young couple change into an old couple and it is set in a art studio scene. Not sure what it was called. I have this on a old video.

2. Water Leviation - David Copperfield
3. Hologram
4. Osmosis
5. Elevator - David Copperfield

and a lot of other illusions.....

Hans Moretti's "The Box" gets my vote.

Others that I really loved are Harbin's Zig Zag, Copperfield's Flying, Copperfield's Snowstorm and Copperfield's Disembodied Princess. The presentations are what make them stand apart.

Moretti's sword box gets my vote ...
because I HAVE NO IDEA how this is done.
And I do not want to know. But in secret ... of course I do!

Therefore in my opinion my vote goes to my TRUE MAGICIAN Hans Moretti!

Here is a link to some of the most beautiful levitations.

All the listed illusions are very good. I am surprised that Lance Burton, and Galina are not mentioned.

I think the best illusion was presented by Doug Henning, can't remember the name of it, but he stepped into a large round tube, and one leg disappeared, then the other, and then both. The illusion was advertised in Genii Magazine, don't know why no one does it today. I always thought that was more magical then every thing else.

Bill,
As far as I know it's called the Feet No Feet Illusion and
it's an invention of Andre Kole.
Cheers!
