Thanks to all the dealers who are doing such a great job on this!
Just got a lovely comment on Narcissus from the great Marc Salem (which he allowed me to quote): "Fantastic work from a real genius." Wow, thank you so much, Marc! |

I got this a couple of days ago so have not tried this out yet. However, the package you receive is really well put together with a nice range of cards to get you started, along with a disc full of ideas and additional cards you can print yourself.
I tried it out a few times at home and the illusion works perfectly. Initial impressions are; this is very cool. |

Based on the reviews, and the comments here, I've gone ahead and ordered it. Have considered '100 Monkeys' but was seduced in this case by the slightly lower price of Narcissus, and the fact that it is geared to close up rather than stage performance. Fingers crossed...

Does anyone with experience know if this could work on the back of a business card if it was just one word? Ta

I ordered this version and love it.
Nevertheless a german version/Add-On would be great! |

The first person I tried this on last night could ONLY read the hidden words. They couldn't see what they were meant to at all. Turns out they wore contact lenses. The second person struggled to focus on the card, held it at arm's length and also read the hidden message first. Another member of the group glanced over when their neighbours was looking at the card and also saw the hidden message.
You're going to need a lot of care to make this work. I've lost all my confidence after my first attempt and had to laugh it off as just an amusing optical illusion. Having said that it works brilliantly on me and I love it. |

These questions certainly came up on the first 100th Monkey release.
My take is that if this is presented as a potential challenge or puzzle - it will be more likely perceived that way. I personally would not let the spectator control the holding of the phone or words. Like anything else or any effect this should not be an effect that you run out to show immediately. I can say that if presented and managed correctly, with the right choice of spectator (like any mentalism styled effect) you should have a fantastic outcome. If you choose the alpha of the group or someone who sees this as a "puzzle," then you will run into issues as you would with any effect.

This was nothing to do with lighting.

In fact, I wasn't even presenting this as a trick because I was road-testing the card just by itself (and I am glad I did). I just showed the card as a curiosity, asked what it said and straight away they read out the hidden message much to my surprise! And audience member with slightly funny eyes is not a spectator management issue. |

Too much money to pay for an effect that isn't sure-fire.
