Hello Folks - the Parent Assembly of the S. A. M. has two great lectures upcoming in September.
Marcus Eddie is scheduled to lecture on Thursday, September 8 at 8 p.m. and Whit Haydn will lecture on September 29 at 7 p.m. Tickets for both lectures are free to Parent Assembly Members, $25 for non-members of S. A. M. and $20 for S. A. M. members who do not belong to PA1. Marcus Eddie As most of you probably know, Marcus Eddie is the originator of many striking, visually strong effects such as the rubber band classic Stairway. He has appeared recently on Penn & Teller Fool Us as well as Wizard Wars on the SyFy netwoork. Marcus's lecture will be held at 8 p.m. at Chelsea Studios, 151 West 26th Street, 6th Floor (between 6th & 7th Avenues). Whit Haydn Pop Haydn started out as a street performer in the 1960's, and he has worked all over the world in every type of venue. He is a seven-time Magician of the Year award winner at the Magic Castle. Pop will talk about the psychology and routining of magic. He will discuss the philosophical principles that underlie his approach to magic using his own original routines to illustrate his thinking. He will explain how to use patter to strengthen the effect of the trick and to develop humor out of the situation rather than through "lines" and jokes. The routines he will be discussing include both stage and close up magic, and are all award-winning routines designed for real world situations. He teaches useful principles, sleights and ruses that can be applied to any routine. Stage effects will include: Four Ring Routine, Mongolian Pop Knot, and Six Card Trick. For close-up Pop will fill us in on Chicago Surprise, Multiple Peeked Cards to Pocket, Specific Resonance, The Intricate Web of Distraction (color- changing knives) and more. The lecture will be held at Fantasma Magic at 7 p.m.. For questions or for more information please contact: herb@herbsmagic.com |
