Hi
I saw David Copperfield takes a shell on a beach. He makes it float into the air and then draw a square around it with it's finger. I saw day to day people do this trick with a coffee cup. They make the cup float in the air and then do a square around it with their fingers to show there's no string. How do they do it ? I am betting there's so sort of invisible tread involved. I trie to find a video of it but I can't something similar to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFoe_86RZOI |

Exposure & Passwords:
The blatant exposure of magic tricks is seriously prohibited in the public areas. We do, however, have a special section called The Banquet Room. It is here that you may openly discuss secrets and methods (provided they are not marketed tricks and effects - as exposing these items would only hurt the creators and manufacturers) with one another for the purpose of learning and becoming more proficient in the art. Secrets: Please do not ask for secrets to the workings of tricks and or effects. Buy the trick, book, or DVD like everyone else. If you need help with a trick, email or private message the individual. So the point of the Magic Café' is not to come on and find the secrets to a trick. If you interested in becoming a magician I would recommend joining a local magic group or visiting a magic shop even an online magic shop. Many advertise on here and have great selections of magic. |

You'll find magicians often reluctant even to tell you what books to read until you demonstrate that you have more interest than just a passing curiosity in how things are done.
But if you are legitimately interested in learning magic, stick around and read and participate in the discussions here in the "New to magic" forum and as people get to know that your interest is sincere, you'll start getting a lot of great advice from professionals who've been at it for a long time. And the more you participate, the more the advice will be tailored to what YOU need rather than just general tips. But we won't just say how David Copperfield does his tricks. I'll be the first to say I think magicians are more obsessive about secrets than they need to be, but even still, these tricks are how a lot of people put food on the table, so we do have to respect a certain code of honor about it.

To be honest. I started buying magic kit off ebay as a kid and into my adulthood.
Here I am on youtube performing a very simple trick https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1PFuPYnLNo I wrote a fan mail to David Copperfield and they sent back an autrographed picture. This kinda renewed my interest in magic. I have a new kit that I would have liked help with. |

One cannot BUY magic! MAGIC exists only in the mind(s) of the spectator(s). One can buy, or make, PROP(S) or SECRETS. Using the PROPS or SECRETS, one can PERF0RM a TRICK. If the TRICK is PERFORMED well, with a good PRESENTATION, MAGIC may "happen" in the mind(s) of the spectator(s)! MAGIC IS NOT INHERENTLY ENTERTAINING! --It's the task of the MAGICIAN, using PSYCHOLOGY and PRESENTATION to MAKE MAGIC ENTERTAINING. Forget about "fooling your friends", and, "no practice needed"! Oh yeah. I'm really sorry about the grammar and spelling mistakes. Obviously English is not my mother tongue. I speak a broken English.
I'm doing my best to learn English. |

Friend Bast,
I only mentioned the "autograph" spelling which your spell check should have "caught". I can understand grammar errors. I don't know your nationality. You express yourself reasonably well. "(American) English" is often "irregular", and, definitely not easy for someone not born here. A lot of Americans, don't express themselves that well, either!!! Are you living in USA? I suggest that you continue working on the language, because it will help you! COMMUNICATION is CRITICAL!! I tried to find something "nice" to say about your YOO TOOB video. I just couldn't! Forget about the "magic kits"! I would suggest that, if you are really serious about learning to be a magician, you start reading, no, STUDYING, the Tarbell Course. It's available in pdf, at no cost. Tarbell was written almost a century ago! The patter, and the presentation, that Doc Tarbell suggests is definitely out of style, but, the principles are the important thing! At this point, as far as I can tell, "you are not ready" to perform in public! You need to learn to crawl, before you walk, and walk, before you run!!! ----TARBELL!!! Read the comments in the fora (that's the plural of forum!)and, you will learn a lot. But, remember, that many of those who write comments, are even newer than you! Many of them are "magic shop magicians". They really only know what they've read in the instruction sheets about the prop that they bought in the store! You will gradually begin to realize that!

P.S.: I just wrote a long post in OUR NEW ARRIVALS, for Richard Tay. I think that much of what I wrote will apply to your situation.
