There seem to be three groups of people engaged in this thread: 1) Those who have Bang On, have practised it well and use it on a regular basis (and love it) 2) Those who have Bang On, realise it will take and lot of work and regular use and that doesn't fit with them - eg hobbyist (but they still admire it) 3) Those who don't have it and like to pick faults with it - why bother commenting at all? It isn't a bad trick or a badly advertised trick just one that requires work and regular use - Marc has a very creative mind, is prepared to put the work it to make it slick and in his business of performing, lecturing and demoing gets continual practice to keep it slick (like Jay Scott Berry). - this is the sort of trick that even a brief hesitation or fumble will be noticed by the spectator and detract from the magic of the performance |

BTW, meant to write "missed", not "mist". I really aren't an idiot.
Mine should be coming in the mail today. I'm excited. KJ |

I just received this today. It took a long time to cross the pond and get to me. After having had a chance to review this, I must say that it really exceeded my expectations. I was thinking this was going to involve difficult sleights. To my surprise, this is really a lot easier to perform than I thought it would be.
Marc is one really clever man. kj |

Is it more Bang for your bucks or more bucks for your Bang?

For me, it was definitely more bang for my bucks. It is pricey, but it is really a great system. It is far better than what I was speculating before I got it.

Not sure why the routines that came with the original bang on were not included with the new version. This is a great trick. I would also recommend his master deck. 😀

I'm interested in buying this, but I have one question:
What kind of pocketage (I just made that word up) do you need to perform the trick? I normally perform wearing jeans, so no shirt pocket or jacket available. The back pockets are not roomy as you'd expect in jeans. Will I be able to perform Bang On 2.0 without any upper-body (or loose/roomy) pockets? |

I believe a suit jacket with both side pockets are needed .

If your regular wallet is very thin (unlike mine, which also has some magic props in it), you might be able to also put your regular wallet in your back pocket. In fact, I think this routine would be stronger from your back pocket(s) because then it really sells the notion that you have only one wallet. You could also make the gimmick wallet look more like a regular wallet by adding a credit card. KJ |

I'm a BIG fan of these type of effects (I currently floor people with Kolossal Killer) and was disappointed I couldn't get my hands on Bang On 1.0. I've been curious due to reading about it for quite some time.
When Bang On 2.0 was available it was an "instant purchase". I received it today and watched the video. It's ingenious! After the requisite practice, I will be giving this a whirl for a few months. However, as a regular KK performer, there's a significant trade-off with Bang On as opposed to KK. There are advantages to both. With one tool, I gain perfection, but I'm not sure if I'm willing to give up my "Off by one" super power, which is often more stunning than a direct hit. Also, if you think about it, you have to actually "bring" Bang On with you, while KK "automatically" comes with you. Decisions, decisions... I appreciate the options. I'm curious as to other people's experiences...does anyone that performs KK feel that the trade off necessary to "Bang on" every time surpasses activating the "Off By One" super power? One small wish was that Marc had included a few more live performances in the video. |

I used to perform KK also and I have to admit that the Off by one did in some cases make the effect stronger. However, in some cases I did get the odd person who actually worked out the method (The smarter specs realise you couldn't fit 52 cards in your wallet, but by writing off by one it dramatically reduces the amount and is easily fit) in the case this did happen they obviously asked to inspect my wallet. With Bang on in the specs mind there is no need to look at the wallet as it is implied to be empty. The card is ISOLATED in an envelope which suggests there are no other cards, this is also supported by the position you hold the envelope in once the card has been removed to show nothing else falling out. All in all Bang on is a lot cleaner

I was initially concerned about this too, but in my experience it hasn't happened...yet. At this point, I've performed KK so much that even if someone were to ask to see the wallet, I would definitely consider it an extremely rare outlier. I think I have been able to short circuit this through my presentation. With KK I always say, "I only keep two things in my wallet, one card" (at this moment I remove the card but don't show it to them yet) "and one dollar" (and then I show them the "empty" wallet with only one dollar) finally I show them the value of the card and jaws drop...or even better I hit "off by one" and heads explode and people run screaming. The card is ISOLATED in an envelope which suggests there are no other cards, this is also supported by the position you hold the envelope in once the card has been removed to show nothing else falling out. If you're getting pummeled with question about your KK I think Bang On will erase that almost entirely. You are absolutely correct and this is certainly the strength of Bang On. However since I never get asked to see my KK wallet, I don't know whether avoiding the examination question is a net win. Although, with Bang On, I would imagine that it never becomes an issue. This is what I need to test. The challenge is, how do I test for something that never happens? This will be fun. Quote:
All in all Bang on is a lot cleaner. In a certain sense Bang On is cleaner simply because you are 100% every single time, but I don't yet know if that's better than "off by one". This is the exact tradeoff I want to experiment with, because Bang On is definitely not cleaner for the magician. It *may* be cleaner for the spectator, however the same type of person who asks to see the KK wallet, may ask you about your pockets. Time will tell. I won't know for a few weeks. I'm excited. |
