4 kids (ages 5-12), 3 with special needs, and a great wife - a full family. I have to exercise really good stewardship with time and funds.

I've hesitated from going to the FCM conventions for the last years since I've joined.

Are they worth the drive? Are they really worth it to spend a percious week of family vacation time there? Will the whole family be blessed? Will the kids and my wife have a good time too? Other than spending $$ on new effects, is the money dropped worth it?

It's a 15 hour drive from VA to Indianapolis.

Lots of questions. Convince me I should finally go this year. I want to do a convention this year and I'm leaning towards Kiddabra.

Thanks.

Dave,

We have a two day FCM conference in Nov. that you might be interested in. It is on a Friday and Saturday. The cost is $25 dollars. This year we are having Steve Taylor, BJ Harris, Ron London, just to
name a few. It is in Nashville which might not be too far away. Let me know if you need more in with a PM.

I have been to one in Portland and if the others are like it, then go for it!

You may need the break and the boost of creative enthusiasm that conventions generate.

If you can't make the International, be sure to get to one of the state/regional events.

It will not be anywhere on the same scale as the International, but it will be closer, and less expensive for entrance and travel.

The Ohio FCM Conference was a month ago, and it had a lot of great lectures, a bunch of good dealers, and some good shows.

Plus as with most events like this, the fellowship you will gain will be a real blessing. I ran into a couple of guys from another state and hung out sessioning doing cards and coins, sharing and learning and just talking. It was a great event for all of the above reasons.

Everything I've heard about them leads me to believe that they are well worth the visit. I missed this years in the UK, but have set aside the time for the next one!
