Can anyone tell me the brand name of the chessboard fanning deck that Channing Pollock used in his act and the films "European Nights" and "The Red Sheik"?

The squares of the chessboard of the deck Channing used actually had pictures of the Zodiac on them.
This link will, with a little luck, take you to a jpeg of both the red deck that he used in his films and a matching blue deck with the same Zodiac pattern,. https://www.facebook.com/338764602812514......&theater ----- Amado "Sonny" Narvaez

They are Waddington brand cards. HERE is an example from Ebay (scroll down).

Ken Brooke in the 1970's sent along Waddington playing cards with a number of his tricks. Did a little searching and found that Hasbro purchased Waddington years ago, and then a British game company brought them back to the U.K. This company along with 2 partners, also game companies. I could not find any of them listing deck being manufactured for the general public.

With a little luck, the U.S. Postal Service should be delivering a deck to my door within a week.
Here's what the deck that I found looks like: https://scontent.forf1-2.fna.fbcdn.net/v......596ECED3 ----- Amado "Sonny" Narvaez

Thomas De la Rue and Co. was another card manufacturer in the U.K. It was in business in the 1920's and later. During my search, this person and company was mentioned.
You can read about these companies by searching Waddington Playing Card Co. It takes you to a collectors website discussing these early companies. Rue originally was a paper company that later also manufactured playing cards. |
