Peter Turner has another good one in the Bob Cassidy compilation they all did (RIP).
You construct a pin code and reveal each of 4 digits. I've just been doing it with one digit as a numerological sort of analysis. As procedural and lengthy as it is, it always gets a strong response which has genuinely surprised me. You can even do it over text and it still gets a great response. |

If people repeat the effect afterwards with their calculator, picking a different number at the beginning, they will immediately realize how it's done.
Very weak effect. 2/10.

I bought this today and I'm going to hold my opinion until after I try it several times on spectators. My only concern is that they might remember the calculations. But what I'm hoping is that with suitable time misdirection most people will forget and won't be able to back-track the effect...Time will tell.

I have been trying this out a few times, with slightly different wordings and have now retired it.
Why? Quite simply, about a third of the time, it doesn't work. The spec simply inputs the sum wrongly and gets a wrong result. Yeah, I know: "spectator management" etc. but it's difficult not to come across as a bit of an arse if you don't seem to trust them to do a simple sum on their phone. Shame. |

I think that this one needs to be done in conjunction with something else, maybe as a quick lead in to create some time in between. In that case it is doubtful anyone later on would really remember how to backtrack it.

https://archive.org/details/Scam_School_112 In my opinion, one of the best impromtu tricks can be performed with a calculator. |
