I have also read Isolation and Madison is bang on. I also remember having this performed on me by Michael and it all seemed to fair.
John, you really won't be. Quite the opposite as this is a mammoth of a project but so straightforward. Joel.

Can I be the bad guy to play devil's advocate for a moment? Please keep in mind I'm hoping, wanting, and expecting to like this.
Will this be process heavy to the point of exposing the very method used (like twenty questions)? Or convoluted at all? I want the spectator to come away in awe and stunned appreciation. Thoughts? |

Hi Nathan
Not at all I will also be reviewing this extensively as well More imoprtantly I think its good to have several points of views I have performed this(one system) when Michael shared this with me back then on multiple occasions and it is entirely propless and you can combine this with IS3 and have a massive repertoire among others if you dabble in propless at all If you are new to propless you will love this The other day I was with a famous music group at their holiday party, and among the effects I did Isolation was among the favorites I will have a review soon Alex Alejandro

Nathan, this is anything but convoluted. You explain to someone that you will be reading their thoughts, and that is exactly what you will do.
There are so many different options and paths to go down, that you can repeat the effect with the same person, and the methods will seem to cancel each other out. Rasp. |

On Dec 15, 2017, Nathan Alexander wrote: As others have already said, no this is not process heavy or 20 Questions. In fact, Michael says one of the big reasons he came up with this was to eliminate the obvious pumping questions many thought of card routines use. For example, if you said “this isn’t a black card is it?” “No” “ it isn’t odd is it?” “Yes” “it isn’t a heart is it?” “No” “it isn’t a low card is it?” “Yes” anyone watching would be able to determine it is a low value heart that is odd. Most would gues the Three of Diamonds. They will never be far off. With the Isolation system, you could challenge someone else to attempt to guess the card as you do. The person trying to follow along would be clueless. In many versions, the spectator never gives an answer that specifically reveals a single piece of information. You will know the color and suit before anyone even believes the trick has begun. You will know the value with very little questioning at all. Certainly not enough information to know the value. Ultimately, this is THE BEST solution to date and I can’t imagine it ever being topped. Madison |

I HUGELY appreciate both the interest and feedback thus far. This project has taken over my life for as long as I can remember and I am so pleased that it will be off to the printers on Monday.
Prior to release I will shoot a quick video to give some further insights into this system. I am very exited to get it in everyones hands and into your minds I also want to give the biggest of thanks to RASP who instigated this entire project by asking a seeming innocent question about something he had read in a book. It was the investigation into this question that provided the seed that would become the Isolation project. Since that day RASP has spent counless hours helping me to refine the process and has endured 1000's of performances as a result. He has also spent countless hours ensuring that this book was as polished as possible prior to handing it over to the select few for a final comb through. I would also like to thank Mick Wilsons family for sparing him for hours at a time as I worked through the latest variants intimately discovering new paths to explore as we spoke. Without Ian and Mick, Isolation would not exist and would never have become the monster that it is! Sending the very best of wishes to you all this festive season! Michael

Referring to Madison's quote of "...I don't see this ever being topped!"
Everything can be topped. Every invention, thought, idea put forth can be improved. If not how would the human race evolve? Someday Michael will top this I'm sure. ;) |

Can't wait until this is released. I think people are going to be impressed with how quick this is, and people will have it mastered in a relatively short time. I have had the privilege to read through this (multiple times, haha), and Michael has gone above and beyond with lots of extra tidbits. One thing that Michael has stubbornly stuck to is the idea that very few "questions" should be asked in this routine. I think Madison said it above, but the beauty of isolation is that the audience members watching you and the spectator won't know what the card is until it is revealed by you. This is because of the lack of questions. You are TRULY reading thoughts with a skill your audience won't have.
Michael (and Rasp) should be congratulated, and I am really proud to have this in my pocket.

Here is my thorough review for Isolation.
The book starts off with Michael answering the question, “Why do we need another system?” This brief essay really gives you insight into the backbone of what makes this new system so great. Michael then discusses the blueprints for the system. Essentially explaining how the information will be broken down. Trucking right along, Michael teaches the memory work first for the value groups and then a physical memory aid for the suits. Michael highly suggests stopping to take the time to commit this to memory, and I fully agree. The rest will come much easier if you first learn these groups. Luckily, Michael has created visual memory pegs which make it very easy to remember. Next he briefly states how he gets into the performance with a beautiful line which I have been using in my own performances of it. The next section briefly discusses the structure of the book and how it’s laid out. Now we get to the first full system called “The Streamlined Master System.” This is probably the most basic system, but still one of the best. It puts a minimal restriction on what cards can be chosen: literally it only eliminates two obvious values, so it doesn’t feel like a restriction at all. YOU MUST LEARN THIS SYSTEM BEFORE PROGRESSING. There is a lot of overlap in this system which is used in all the systems that follow it, so it is highly recommended to go ahead and learn this system full before continuing to the following pages. I’m not really going to go deep into what this system can and can’t do, but just know that it limit the choice by getting rid of the aces and sevens. That’s what sets this system apart. It’s a great system, and it works very well. This was the system Michael performed on me the first time he demonstrated it. It teaches a method to learn the color, a method to learn the suit, and this method for learning the value as well as his Cloaking technique to get the precise card. The next system taught is “The Complete Master System” this System is identical to the first with the exception that Michael has eliminated the need to restrict their choice. Essentially, he adds in the two values that he excluded previously. Everything else is identical. Adding these two values in simply shifts one part of the process. Personally, I actually prefer the streamlined system to this system. If you feel you absolutely must not restrict in any way, then this is a great option. However, getting rid of two values is extremely easy and very casual and only seems like you are helping them to not be boring by choosing what everyone chooses. For that reason, I prefer to stick with the streamlined version. The next system is “The Palm Reading System” and no, it has nothing to do with THAT palm reading. Of all the systems in the book, this is my absolute favorite. It’s just very much my style. I can see how this will not fit some performers, and many people may hate this system. But for me and my performance style, this fits like a glove. Essentially, this system eliminates some of the poking that the previous systems required. It’s a new way to determine the value. You ask them to visualize their value printed across their palms and visualize certain letters. They never say anything out loud, and yet you are light years ahead of them. To me, this is about as close to real mind reading as you can get. This is the system I’ve been using extensively. The next system is “The Hybrid System” this System is a mix of the Palm Reading System and the Master System. It has some significant pros and cons over the other systems. For me, the biggest con is there are more spoken yes or no answers than the Palm Reading System. This isn’t too big of a deal because these answers don’t seem to give anything significant away. It essentially cuts down on some of the Palm Reading process and adds verbal ruses in place of half of the previous techniques. Some may enjoy this, but for me, if I’ve already established the visualization of the word on their palms, I might as well squeeze the most out of it. With this system, I feel like the Palm method is under utilized which, in my opinion, makes it seem it of place. Which brings me to the next system. “Hands-Free Hybrid System” This system operates with the same mechanics as the hybrid system but removes the necessity of the hands being used. I like this hybrid version over the previous one for the reason listed previously. Michael next discusses some additional thoughts such as how to choose the right spectator for this effect. It will work 100% of the time if the spectator can follow directions. Michael teaches a very nice and logical way into the effect that gives you a better chance of success. In this section he also discusses how to use Isolation as an opener. He also details a VERY nice line to use as an introduction for the effect. This line is very effective and makes a great beginning to the trick. In this section Michael also discusses several techniques about how to make the use of a playing card meaningful. He also gives a line to end the effect which Star Wars fans will love. In reality, this closing line is FANTASTIC and will be great for all audiences. I recommend not skipping over this part. It’s a great closing line. Michael discusses MANY other topics in this section. Now we get to the section of the book loaded with alternative methods for each section of the process. It begins with alternate methods to know the color. Michael outlines TEN different methods for knowing the color of their thought of card! The next section covers various ways to get the suit of their card. Michael details TEN ways to get the suit! This is where you can see how Michael continues to push himself further and further in the development process. Each version is totally different. I recommend reading each version and memorizing it. You never know when you will be asked to repeat a performance or simply when you need to vary your method for one reason or another. Having these ten methods in your head will give you assurance that you will always be able to nail their card in various ways no matter what the circumstances. Next Michael details 4 ways to restrict the participants choice of value without seeming restrictive. In reality, two of these methods are almost their own system. In this section, Michael details how to use a coin spin to help you gain significant information. He also discusses a way to use his springboard principle to make this effect even simpler. Next there is a section how to gain a significant bit of knowledge used in the streamlined and Master systems. He only details TWO techniques here. Really, I believe these are here for ease of finding for the reader if they ever come to check back in. Now Michael details EIGHT techniques to cleanly get down to one card from two. There are methods that have been around and new methods from Michael. This is another great section to have in your mind. These techniques also work for other propless effects. Next there are TWO ways to cleanly and interestingly reveal a card. The next section is titled, “Considerations and Combinations of Techniques.” In this chapter, Michael suggests a few ways to mix and match the techniques discussed previously. He also includes two scripts to show the reader how these versions would play. “Bonus Tools” Here Michael teaches how to use the bonus items that come with the book. I won’t say much, but the book comes with some physical items in case you’d like to use them to help the process. “The ACAAN that isn’t” This is a rather strange version of ACAAN which using the Isolation system an a deck of cards, allows you to know the card and number someone is thinking of. There is a variation discussed which allows you to nail the spectators thought of card AND their star-sign. “A Thought in Hand” In this chapter, Michael discusses how to use an old English Penny (which comes with the package) to perform a crazy version of which hand. I say crazy because in my opinion, it’s a bit convoluted. It involves the spectator hiding a coin, thinking of a card, and thinking the month they were born in. At the end you reveal which hand the coin is in, which card they are thinking of, and which month they were born in. As I said, it’s a bit too convoluted for me personally. I much prefer to perform Isolation by itself. Michael ask details how to use this system to get a star-sign at the end rather than the month they were born in. Michael goes on to discuss how you can divine details about a specific memory rather than just name the month. “Thought of Card in Wallet” this section is exactly as it sounds. With the book, you get some custom printed playing cards to use for a thought of card in wallet routine. You can ALWAYS reveal a thought of card in your wallet. Sometimes you perform the thought of card in wallet in place of isolation, and some times you’ll perform isolation and then have a kicker of another thought of card in your wallet. This is a version nice version of thought of card in wallet and no, you’ll never be “off by one.” The book ends with a plea to creators to respect the new techniques Michael has created and laid out in the book. I think this is a long time coming and I hope creators respect his request. So many times I see Michael’s name credited, but apparently sometimes that has been happening without his permission. Michael has created so many valuable techniques in this book that can apply to many prop-less effects. It would be very easy for creators to pull from this release and use the ideas in their own work. To echo what Michael says, please respect him and the hard work he has put into creating these techniques. Ladies and gentleman, that is the cover-to-cover review for Isolation. I have been calling it “The Bible of Thought of Card” and I hope now you can see why. It isn’t just one system. It’s a plethora of techniques that each performer can mix and match to their own style. There’s NO WAY anyone could buy this and say it’s not for them. The techniques are too varied for that to be said. Most people would have come up with the “Streamlined Master System” and been satisfied as having created an incredible thought of card System. But that wasn’t good enough for Michael. No wonder he feels like this has taken over his life! I don’t know what the cost will be, but I know it will be worth it. I hope it’s expensive; it needs to be. It’s too good and too much hard work has gone into it to be given away cheaply. Also as a note, when reading Isolation, don’t skip over any of the “note” boxes. They contain valuable information. And don’t skip over any section regardless of how you feel. This is a book you should read cover-to-cover or you’ll miss a lot of valuable information. Also, this has been KILLING the people I’ve performed it for. Only hypothetically, luckily It has fried them and they have told me that I couldn’t have done it unless I really read their mind. So while this is brilliant, it’s also VERY effective. Michael, you are truly a GENIUS. This is incredibly good in every way, shape, and form. Thank you for pouring your heart and sole into the project. I promise your effort has paid off. Madison |

Thank you for the detailed review, it has highlighted the work Mr Murray has put into the thought of card plot. I'm assuming this review isn't taking into account the video/DVD supplement Michael has mentioned on this thread? I'm ultimately a visual learner, and have struggled in the past to absorb information via text (thanks to dyslexia). Peter Turners video supplements for IS3 made the learning process so much quicker just by seeing him perform it. I'm thrilled that a video aid is included.. it's going to make my life a WHOLE lot easier.
I'm actually quite shocked how much work has gone into this, 10 ways to get the colour?! And 10 more to get the suit?! Utterly blown away. |

Late to the party here, but this sounds brilliant.
Any chance that it will be offered in digital format? At least for the video portion, for those of us who no longer have DVD players in our computers or connected in our homes? Scary to say given it was new technology not long ago, but I don't have a single method of playing DVD's left, and couldn't justify keeping one just for magic purchases..

The DVD that comes as part of the package is not a digital version of the book, but is there as a teaching aid to help purchasers with the different systems. Also containing audio files that you can listen to and follow along to test yourself.
