So, are you interested in our actual presenters for this year? Are you?
So let's start with the "Close Call" lecture about performing close-up mentalism in the real world. As we already announced in this workshop you will be given key insights into effective close-up mentalism in real-world settings. This lecture is for those who seek the thrill of performing face-to-face, embracing the challenge of the close-up environment and letting you make any space your personal stage. The lecture will reveal genuine experiences of performing for a variety of clients in a close-up setting. It will also provide shared support to performers seeking to refine and develop their close-up skills. Now, actually it was not that easy to find our presenter for this particular topic - a presenter, who is not only a dear friend of ours but as well undeniable one of the most experienced and creative close up performers in the world. Obviously we are talking about ... LOOCH! Actually there is barely need to introduce him - but for the sake of completeness, ... ... he is an Award-Winning Mind Reader and Mentalist who specialises in entertaining at a range of corporate events, private parties and weddings all over the UK and Europe. Looch's unique skills combined with his humour and professionalism have resulted in him quickly becoming one of the most sought after acts of this type for hire in the UK today. He has lectured to thousands of performers all over the world and has written several best selling books on mentalism including Simple and Direct (SAD) and the Tarbell book of the year 2015, The Black Project. He is considered by his peers to be one of the most creative performers of close up mentalism in the world today. We are very happy and proud that we could get Looch to lecture on the topic of Close Up Mentalism at Mind Summit 2017 (http://www.mind-summit.net). Cheers Th. |

Here we go with the next Mind Summit 2017 presenter to be announced.
And this one will be an absolute blast! Content-wise AND with regard to the presenter that we could convince to lecture on this topic. I’m talking about the topic of Character Building and Creating a Stage Persona. Yes, this particular lecture won’t be about ‘tricks’ in the first instance. But it is a topic which is widely underestimated. This is because whether you perform as an amateur or on a professional level, consistency, credibility and believability are always the fundamental pillars of serious performance. They make the difference between a good and a great one! Now we are very proud that we could convince the one to lecture on this topic who is undeniably one of the most literate experts out there in general – he’s a legend! And as matter of fact he is THE ONE to approach on the topic of ‘Character Building and Creating a Stage Persona’ specifically. We are very proud to announce the one and only … MAX MAVEN! Do we really need to introduce this living legend? Each attempt to list all his works, creations, acts, projects and achievements must fail – it would be fragmentary as hard as you try. So let’s limit ourselves to this: Max has appeared on hundreds of television and radio programs, top talkshows and variety specials, as well as acting on comedy and dramatic shows all over the world. He published over 1700 creations in the conjuring literature, and was an advisor to over a hundred television shows. As a consultant he has worked with David Copperfield, Siegfried & Roy, Doug Henning, Penn & Teller, Lance Burton, and many others. He has also directed revue shows for several major American gambling casinos. Max Maven has a fascinating history. He has been a successful radio announcer, graphic designer, author, pianist, teacher, singer, actor, lecturer, screenwriter, composer, advertising consultant, and chef. He reads over 150 books and magazines each month, and this constant flow of information provides a continual stimulation of new ideas for presenting his uncanny abilities. The late Orson Welles wrote that Max Maven has "the most original mind in magic." So be prepared to something extraordinary! Max will not only offer this extraordinary lecture at Mind Summit 2017 but as well a master class the day before the actual convention starts - which is September 07, 2017. This class will include a compressed but deep history of mentalism, discussion of stagecraft and theory, plus some routines including material that has never been published. Obviously it features time for the attendees to ask questions on virtually anything they wish to discuss. We look forward to see you there! Cheers Th. www.mind-summit.net |

And here comes our next presenter for Mind Summit 2017.
'Playing Cards' are an important topic in mentalism no matter whether or not you appreciate their application in corresponding routines. There are good reasons for both - using and avoiding them. So what we wanted based on the requests of former attendee was a lecture that offers an excursion into the philosophy, basics, tools and strategies of this controversial topic. Apart from theoretical and philosophical considerations we wanted it heavily practice-oriented, making it part lecture and part workshop. Now, finding an absolute expert for this topic was actually very easy for us. The one we approached and who thankfully agreed immediately is a huge name in Germany and a big one throughout Europe. Latest since his appearances as one of the headliners and lecturer during MINDvention in Las Vegas, Mind Summit 2014 in Cologne and his overwhelmingly perceived 'Penguin Magic Live Lecture' in 2016 he is deservedly also well known for the rest of the mental community. Obviously I'm talking about the fantastic Jan Forster! Jan is working as a full time pro since 1983, mainly doing theatres with his own full evening show, clubs, corporate shows, cruise ships and occasional TV appearances. Being a pupil of Henk Vermeyden and Joe Nex he started as a manipulator in magic. He won with his original act "Smoker's Dream" several 1st prizes, including the Grand Prix Prag 1981, the German Championship in 1984-86, the Tarocco D'Oro Bologna 1983, Merlin Vienna 1991 and some more. No wonder, he is known also as a superb 'cardician'. Having been always interested in mentalism and mental magic he turned completely mental in 2000. His deep knowledge and hard school of magic was and is often of great help, but he had to forget also things he had learned in so many years. He did. Being member of the Magic Circle (MZvD) and the Society of European Mentalists (GEM) he has published highly acclaimed lecture notes, DVDs and contributions to several books and many magazines. He has published 6 books in German. A big book in English is in preparation, containing all (previously in German) published material plus some more and updates. Currently, it is translated and expected to be ready by end of 2017. Many call him "Germany's most entertaining mentalist" as he easily holds his audience's attention for two hours and longer during his full evening shows. Colleagues praise his dedication to perfectionism and his painstaking eye for subtleties and details. Although very busy he loves to meet, share and brainstorm with other mentalists. Besides that, he loves to read in his huge library. Being fluent in 6 languages he is travelling worldwide. The great Bob Cassidy (RIP) wrote about him: "Jan is the epitome of the classic mentalist persona. His ACAAN is one of the best I've seen and his knowledge and skills are world class." We are very happy that we have Jan again at Mind Summit to shine a light on the controversial topic of Playing Cards in Mentalism. Experience him life at Mind Summit 2017 - www.mind-summit.net! Cheers Th. |

Happy to announce the next expert for Mind Summit 2017. And this is for the often misinterpreted topic of pre-show work.
Pre-Show work is one of the most powerful yet widely misused, underestimated and forgotten tools in the mentalist’s arsenal; and as many attendees mentioned this topic as one of major interest. We decided to fulfil those corresponding wishes. In this exclusive lecture you will learn how to use pre-show and dual-reality effectively. You will learn how to avoid the most common mistakes in their use and understand when not to use them. Now, when searching for our expert on this topic it was foreseeable (even without special mental powers) that one man is the one to approach. His book on pre-show work ‘The Gift: the 14th step to mentalism’ is seen as the de facto resource for this poorly understood technique. Obviously we are talking about the brilliant Paul Brook! Paul was previously a psychologist before becoming a full time entertainer; thirteen years later he still loves the decision to enter showbiz. Aside from an impressive list of clients and a performing all over the world, Paul is known for being a creator of modern mentalism that is divergent in thinking and yet real-world workable. Having written more than twenty books on the subject of mentalism it’s easy to see why Paul is also kept busy consulting behind the scenes for both television and theatre shows alike. It isn’t just mentalism effects that Paul has become known for. Drawing on his psychological education and knowledge he analyses the theoretical applications of mentalism and his stand alone book on mentalism theory ‘The Alchemical Tools’ is considered a modern classic. Paul seldom lectures and over the past few years has gone ‘underground’ as far as the magic community is concerned. This rare lecture will see Paul sharing his thoughts and ideas on the use of pre-show work. He will show you how to integrate these powerful tools into your act in a way that will build confidence within you instead of fear. Look forward to this unique lecture ... and meet Paul and our other experts at Mind Summit 2017 www.mind-summit.net. Cheers Th. |

Let's take a look at our next presenter for Mind Summit 2017.
A often repeated wish of our attendees was an explicit lecture on 'tricks' on the one hand and more specifically on rather 'old fashioned', non-electronic, hand-crafted mentalism on the other. This is what we intended with our 'Refurbished Classics' lecture. So looking for a presenter who is not only as literate as possible to be in-depth in the classics of our art but as well the type of guy to bring those classics into the 21st Century, we finally found our expert in a man, who is 'a name' in Germany for years but received the international attention he deserves only after the release of his much-noticed and highly recommended book 'What Lies Inside' in 2013. Here is how he describes his intention for his lecture at Mind Summit 2017 :
Germany's most toughtless mentalist (Florian Severin, that is) will teach you as many tricks as possible, given that no one interrupts him with pointless questions on "why". The classics of mental magic will be transformed into the new century. Farewell, billet reading. Welcome, party mentalism!
Fellow magicians think I do mental magic. My friends say that I am a magician. My parents suggest I should finally get a proper job." So, look forward to see Florian Severin and all the other great presenters at Mind Summit 2017. www.mind-summit.net Cheers Th. |

I am really looking forward to this year's Mindsummit.
I have been to all of them and always had a fantastic time. A few of my personal highlights: Seeing Peter Turner performing on stage and sessioning at the bar, blowing everybody's mind time after time. Watching Michael Murray in the bar and realizing that he is probably the most creative person I've ever seen. It was the year Richard Osterlind was there as well. He gave a terrific lecture and apparently later at the restaurant performed his unpublished coin bend. I wasn't there but witnessed pale faced people walking away from that table without having any clue how that was possible. One of them approached the table where Michael was sitting and told him about what Richard had just done. And for the next ten minutes Michael came up with at least ten methods how he would do it under that conditions. On the spot! If I am honest I doubt that he hit on Richard's method. But just seeing someone coming up with so many solutions to one plot... just for fun...left a lasting impression on me. And then Luke Jermay's Q&A which he performed two (?) years ago and which was the best piece of theatrical mentalism that I've ever seen. This years lectures sound great as well. I own a few of Paul Brook's books and “The Gift: the 14th step to mentalism” is easily one of the best books written on pre-show. His ideas on this subject are endless and if his lecturing is anything like his writing style then this will be probably the definite word on this technique. Jan Forster is the most thoughtful and well structured performer I know while at the same time being entertaining as hell. I've seen him perform in a theater in Germany for two hours in front of a lay audience which was captivated and entertained the whole time. At the end he received a deserved standing ovation which is not the easiest thing to get from a german audience. I'm very much looking forward to hear his thoughts on playing cards in mentalism. ACAAN all night long! Right Jan?!? ;-) Florian Severin has been lecturing, hosting and performing at the Mindsummit before. His show was one of the craziest things I have seen in mentalism. I remember fondly the moment he gave a package of sweets into the audience. While everybody took one out, unwrapped it and started chewing he calmly explained that one of them was poisoned. A lovely moment. Looch will be there again and I just re-read the Black Project, one of the best mentalism books I own. His ideas are always practical and multi layered miracles. And of course Max Maven, one of my heroes. I am really curious about his thoughts and theories on character building and the theatrical side of mentalism. These are probably still two of the most underestimated aspects of our art in general. And who would know more about it? So thanks to Rainer and Thomas for organizing this another year. I can't imagine how much work the two of you are putting into this. I really look forward to see all of you again very soon. All the best, Axel |

Thank you, Axel!
And here we go with the next highlight of Mind Summit 2017. Our search for our expert on the topic of Q and A was actually over even before it began. Q and A acts are often labeled the 'supreme discipline' of Mentalism. When performed well the Q and A act can create a huge impact and a lasting impression on your audience. Performed poorly it becomes a purely mechanical exercise which is empty of meaning and boring. The difference between the two is one of having a justified structure and appropriate dramatic composition. When I said, our search for THE expert on Q and A was over even before it began I was referring to the fact that the most literate and experienced performer on this particular topic was already on board – obviously we're talking about the brilliant and charismatic Luke Jermay! Even if he will join us for the third time in a row at Mind Summit, we believe from the bottom of our hearts that we couldn't find a better presenter on the topic of Q and A. The Edinburgh Evening News reviewed Jermay's one man show 'Sixth Sense' with 5 Stars calling him 'utterly astonishing in the extreme' going on to add "Jermay is different...to gain power like his he must be in league with the devil." The Times Newspaper said; "My jaw dropped repeatedly... Jermay puts us in a state where we can wonder whether life has more possibilities than we thought it did an hour before" Broadway Baby enthused; "Jermay does outrageous things that are inexplicable - over and over again...He really can just look at you and know what you're thinking..." In this Q and A lecture which is specifically created for Mind Summit 2017 you will get information on philosophy, theory and practice/staging of corresponding acts. You will learn about the proper structuring of a Q and A act, about its dramatic composition, timing and presentation. You will learn how the framework of the routine relates to your personal and stage persona and how audience management and the routine itself fit into your overall show theme. By the way ...
His favourite word is "Abracadabra" and does not enjoy long walks on the beach or sunsets. You have been warned." So, look forward to meet him and all the experts as Max Maven, Looch, Jan Forster, Paul Brook, Florian Severin and all the others at Mind Summit 2017. Cheers Th. www.mind-summit.net |

Right!
But even apart from that - as this question came up even in PMs a few times (and we are not at the end of the line up yet ): The point is that it wouldn't be possible to produce an event like Mind Summit with such an extraordinary concourse of brilliant performers if you would make the lectures available on DVD. And this is for various reasons. One aspect is obviously that it is quite expensive to produce an event like this. So the attendance fees have to be comparatively expensive as well to refinance the costs. Now, obviously no interested colleague would pay serious money to attend an event like this if you could get the same information in DVD for a fraction of the price. This means that offering a DVD would mean that there won't be a convention to record the lectures. Plus a DVD could never replace the personal contact, conversations and real live chats that you'll find locally. And by the way, it's not only the lecturing presenters but also the other attendees AND many former presenters, even 'big names' that join us just for the fun of it. So after all, no; we don't think that offering the lectures on DVD would be a good way to go in the long run. Join us - you won't regret it! Promised! Cheers Th. |

Hi there,
Just wanted to let you know that again two exclusive master classes will top Mind Summit 2017 off – one master class by Mr. Max Maven himself on September 07 and one by the brilliant Looch on September 11. The classes will be open for registrations on our website www.mind-summit.net within the next few days. Now, as the seats are limited for both classes you may want to check the website every now and then; it’s first come, first serve as usual. Next point is that I wanted to introduce our next presenter. It is the one that we could talk into sharing his knowledge and experience about story-telling in Mentalism. As this lecture should provide insights into the principles of creating strong and emotional images in our stories we obviously looked for an expert with undeniable and profound background in this area. We found our presenter in a man who might not be that well known amongst our international attendees – but he is definitively a name (well deserved) in the German speaking countries. He works as a healing practitioner for psychotherapy, as a management trainer and as a teacher at the University of Applied Sciences. That is… if he doesn't follow his main profession. Which is, of course, our topic. Working in this field of story-telling mentalism professionally for more than 13 years by now, he has developed more than 13 evening-shows, some Specials with truly innovative twists, he has been attending a long-running (more than 3 years) dinner-magic event, he has established a series of lectures on "Midnight-Magic" – a concept he was allowed to use by permission of his "mentor" Borodin and he is the author of the books Baphomet and Styx and producer of the Digipak 10, featuring the first BluRay in the magical Tutorial-market. Our presenter on the topic of story-telling mentalism will be the brilliant Knut Knackstedt, PhD. Visual storytelling is one of the keys to all strong magic: Lively pictures, nourished by emotions, that just cannot be ignored or put aside. Pictures that can and will nudge the onlookers to set out on journeys towards unknown, even frightening or bizarre shores. A beginning. The beginning of a story to be told. So in the workshop, Dr. Knut Knackstedt exercises ways of finding, developing and using strong individual core-visuals to artfully expand upon. Examples of his own use of this approach are given and explained, connecting old and new, even original mentalistic thinking and modern story-telling. We are very happy that we could get him for this year's convention. So meet Dr. Knut Knackstedt, Max Maven, Looch, Luke Jermay, Jan Forster, Paul Brook and the other experts at Mind Summit 2017 either during their lecture ... or at the bar! See you at Mind Summit 2017! Cheers Th. |

Our next presenter may not be that well-known to some … but those who experienced him and his skills will confirm that he is definitively a master of his art – the subtle art of contact mind-reading.
Contact mind-reading or muscle-reading has the reputation of being the closest thing to genuine mind-reading that can be reliably demonstrated. It is one of the few genuinely real methods of reading someone’s mind… But very few performers can actually perform it. One of the few who really know what they talk about is Marco Fida from Italy. Marco Fida walks the fine line between seeing and believing: his demonstrations of mind-to-mind contact are a unique blend of suggestion, perceptual finesse, and intuition, a mesmerising invitation to explore the hidden powers of the human mind. As a former member of the Psychic Entertainers Association, he contributed to its newsletter Vibration and to Bascom Jones' Magick. In 2016, he was a guest lecturer and performer at Luke Jermay's The Event in London. At Mind Summit 2017, he will present and discuss THE LEGACY, his own rendition of the classic and rarely seen art of contact and non-contact mindreading. This lecture will give you an entry point to this wonderful tool. It will also give you information on the deeper mind-body connection and how to put it to practical use in demonstrating your supernormal powers. The lecture will also take in some of the context of the early days of theatrical mind-reading together with some key thoughts on the drama, confidence and myth-making associated with the art. We are very proud that Marco will join us at this year's convention! So meet Marco Fida, Max Maven, Looch, Luke Jermay, Jan Forster, Paul Brook, Dr. Knut Knackstedt and the other experts at Mind Summit 2017 – either during their lecture ... or at the bar! See you at Mind Summit 2017! Cheers Th. |
