Hi, all magical minds. As we all know there are few names for "swami gimmick" like nail writer, boon writer and swami writer...
In my opinion the oldest and first name would be swami writer. When I googled for the meaning of "swami" https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swami It says something amazing. You all will find interesting. Please look over that link above. Question : How the swami name kept, why and most importantly who is the originator of this idea? Please do give your valuable words and give touch to magical ocean of knowledge. I apologise for my English. Thanks Friends Magic |

Actually not all names has a reason. Sometimes it's just sound as a good name. For example the Svengali deck (Svengali was a character's name that became a slang for hypnotizer). In portuguese, we also call the Svengali deck "Radio deck". Why? Who knows!
Sometimes the first, or the famous routine in a trick became it's name. Maybe, the first routine with a swami has a Yoggi liked chracter permforming it. Who knows? The first person to use this gimmick is hard do tell, because, there are 4 or 5 types of this gimmicks and each one has his own background. But the concept of secret writing something in a billet may be conceived by some con men in some election in some part of the world. The first "magician" to use it, in the other hand, was Henry Slade, as far as I know. Sorry for my bad english too! |
