The Miracle Block by Magic Wagon will be available early this Sunday morning (April 23rd). Here is the ad copy:
The performer shows a beautiful wooden box with three brass rods penetrating through both sides and then asks if anyone can guess what’s inside? He then removes the rods, shakes the box and, sure enough, something is heard inside! The box is now opened to find that the interior is filled with a solid ornate block of wood! Everything can be immediately handed out for examination with no switching of anything required. The illusion created of how the solid brass rods could have gone through the block of wood in three different locations looks impossible. This is truly a surprising and baffling close-up mystery. This is a much improved and updated version of the original Matchbox Brass Block Penetration effect. The clever mechanism incorporated will even amaze those who own the original model. The box measures approximately 7cms wide, 8cms high and 7cms deep and has been completely handcrafted from natural aged teak wood with a lightly distressed oil finish. The block has also been beautifully made out of genuine teak and artistically decorated with 18 pieces of brass hardware. Due to the complexity and construction processes of the brass and wood involved, this item is offered only in a very limited quantity. Thanks to Mr Tony Curtis for the image! What do you think? Looks good, but probably not as baffling as Industrial Revelation...

A normal cardbox, you can take out a normal card, then a card with a split in it, then push a normal coin and knife thru it and so on. Then the surprise factor comes into play when you dump the heavy piece of metal on to the table or the spectators hand. A pretty long routine, some phases that get a laugh from your audience, ... great entertainment, great magic. Fantastic reactions each and every time! This box doesn't look anything out of the ordinary and it has THREE places where a rod passes thru ... this opens other possibilities. All we need is a good routine and story to elevate this above the standard 'puzzle box'-magic. Show the box, take the rods out, shake it and dump the block on the table is 'puzzling' but not that great of a magic trick. We need to find ways to make it longer and more entertaining. Open it while covering it and dump out something prior to dumping out the block for example. Or combine it with some mentalism with a written prediction in the box ... . I don't' have the prop in hand yet (should arrive in a few hours) so I'm not 100% sure what the possibilities will be. The only thing I really hope is that it's 100%, thoroughly examinable as MW states in their advertisement. |

I have formally written up a routine for the Miracle Block called "Outside the Box". I have offered this to the members that frequent the Magic Wagon forum. If you have purchased the effect and would like a copy of the PDF flip me your e-mail in a PM.

John kindly sent me his 'Outside the Box' presentation last May. His innovative thinking has enhanced the impact of this effect substantially - precise routining gives meaning and credibility to the block - and his ending adds a final kick. I highly recommend that fortunate owners of Miracle Block contact John to request the pdf, as I'm sure he'd be only too happy to oblige and share his thinking with you.
