After the release of Oriculum, we have been finding a good marked tarot, and I also want to do some marked card effect with the minor arcane
I would rather find a professionally altered back design that bland in with the rest of the tarot back What problem I face is that the current marked deck on the market are designed by magician, not suitable in the reading context, Some are print with rough card stock making it hard to manipulate Some have a white border which artistically less attractive but easier to print in bulk, (I really want to have a Kadar Deck with no borders, but since magic Tao take the right from Christopher, I cannot see it happening, imagine how good it would looks like without the borders ) I have seen a lot of you guys recommend the deck of Ba$tard for reading, it have the best looking appearance in tarot I have ever seen, and the image is a combination of different good reading systems The following are what the creator say about the deck : 'I always wanted a vintage deck. But they were so expensive. I saw them on eBay (over $500) and even then, the old decks did not have the same cards we use today (no Hanged Man, & with odd cards like "Birds & Animals" & such). As an artist, over the years I tried to design a vintage - looking deck...but, I could never make anything I was happy with.In frustration, I finally combine several vintage decks, including the Egyptiens Fortune Telling Cards by Delarue France in the 1890's, the Dames deck and the Rider Waite deck for most of the pips. I added vintage edges in the borders and photo-shopped antiquing onto each individual card (NOT dropped into a single TEMPLATE! ), and unified them with similar colorings. For the back, I used an antique book cover that I edited' However, if you contacted the creator about making a marked deck out of it, she charge $12 to alter per card, making it expensive for the entire deck, I am ordering 50 deck from her, She promised me it is the deal between me and her she won't sell to the public, so you won't find the marked tarot sold on public. Or even not find it after the 50 deck run out. The ungimmicked deck of Ba$tard already cost about $70, plus I am paying for altering free and 50 deck first, and will letting one go for $120, If anyone interested in getting one, please send me a pm |

Hmmm, that or mark a classic Rider-Waite deck yourself for $15. Tough choice.

Visconti-Sforza (the ones that aren't missing, that is--15th century) and the Chales VI deck (14th century) include the hanged man. I'm hard-pressed to think of any "old decks" that do not (except for ones where said card/plate is missing, such as incomplete Visconti-Sforza decks, etc...) |

I must confess I am not as knowledgeable as some of the Café members here on the history of tarot, the original passage was a quote from the deck of Ba$tard creator, thanks for clarifying about the history. I think the strength of the creator is on artistic side instead of history side. The art work is on par if that to outlaw dark dawn tarot which sold for $150 for just major arcana, but with a finish making it smoother to handle.
I am not a business man, I just want the best tarot deck with marking that blend in to the back design. So the 50 deck I ordered I considered just for myself and my friends in Café who shares similar artistic style as mine, if the deck went out, you may not see it again unless another group of 50 people contacted me or someone else pay another thousands of dollars to the creator making their own back design. Luckily I have a friend who own a magic shop so if I have any more deck left, he will help me sale them, but of course at a much higher price point. However, I already got serval pm about it, hope all things go well |

And the price of whole deck marked is still less than dark dawn major arcana
