Hello, totally novice in this world. I can run a few basic card tricks (I do not even know their name, if they are at all named somehow), but have decided to spend some time. After reading a few of the introductory posts in this forum I have already placed an order for a couple fo books (Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic & Card Tricks: The Royal Road to Card Magic) as well as decks of Phoenix regular cards).
Looking forward to improving my skills and learning a lot from this forum!

You're going to love the Phoenix decks! You picked up two of the best books for beginners, can't wait to see how you progress.

R. Paul Wilson has a five-disc DVD set which teaches the Royal Road book. I haven't watched them all, but they cover a lot of information.

Welcome P.L.Green,
You've started down a wonderful path. Keep a journal or some video of your progress. It helps to see your progress when you get stuck. -Mary Mowder |

Thanks for your warm welcome and kind words. The books just arrived and I cannot wait to start reading them. Which order do you suggest? By quickly scrolling through the pages looks like The Royal Road to Card Magic might be more focused on the technique and the best starting point. Any suggestions?

Yes, start w/ Royal Road, since that focuses only on card magic. When you want to expand and venture into other areas, take a look at the Wilson book.
