Hey guys,
This Friday's announcement is Mental Pen by Joao Miranda Looks like a nice variation of a classic. Description: Want to blow away your spectators with diabolical mentalism? Welcome to Mental Pen, a diabolical creation of Joao Miranda and Gustavo Sereno. Mental Pen allows you to create REAL MAGIC. The kind of magic that gets into their minds and leaves them totally stunned. With Mental Pen, what the spectator marks with a Sharpie, matches the magician's prediction! The routines possible are endless. It can be performed with any book, magazine, napkin, receipt or even a blank piece of paper, allowing the magician to perform a variety of different routines. KEEP IN MIND: - The spectator holds the pen the entire time - No switches - The "secret" is activated by the spectator himself! - Endless routines are possible, either for close-up or stage - You can use the pen as a regular Sharpie - Diabolical gimmick makes the effect super easy to perform Comes complete with Sharpie and all gimmicks needed. IT appears you can easily do these routines with a regular pen or marker but you would have to do a switch. So this gives you the convenience and perhaps extra layer of deception of not doing a switch and using only one marker.

Not clear exactly what this does

From what I can tell, a spectator is handed a magazine or a map, etc. and blindly makes a mark, circle or x while holding the marker point side uo. When the word or other information that was circled or marked is revealed, the same wird or information was also marked or predicted by the performer.

I hope that is vague enough the change in the clip was done by the spec - in her own hands - it seemed very clean - I guess that's the best outcome [but you might need to recap the pen yourself if they don't] if that's what it is, and how it 'works' - it looks rather good |

Ahhh
ignore my capping I guess it has more to do with gravity looks good my question would be... can you refill the pen [or do you need to buy a new one each time the ink runs out] ironic that it's the convincer part that is the worry [for a refill] |

Re: refills, it depends on how much ink is in the gaff Sharpie I think.
If it holds as much as a regular Sharpie, or close to it, you could write a name a s***load of times, and if I liked the trick enough to use it that much I certainly wouldn't mind buying a whole new one. Of course if you're using it as your everyday marker for other effects then maybe it would run out fairly quickly. Although I can't remember ever using up a Sharpie, I lose them long before the ink runs out. Also, be curious to know how hard the spec can press on the tip when writing. I'm concerned about that because I'm a heavy writer by nature and I know others are too. But certainly a clever and interesting idea, and really a utility item that could be used in so many different ways and routines. |

Nope , no gravity is involved . The spectator can press as hard as they want and it'll not affect the working . The secret is extremely clever and super practical .

It feels like a few ppl have this
If you can't post an answer [for some reason] can you PM me [?] As I will be buying this before reviews come in [if I buy it now] I understand what it is, and as I hate switching [and it's cleaner without a switch even if I didn't dislike doing them] - so this version seems perfect for me BUT... the ink Is it a 'smaller' sharpie [i.e. normal size pen but it will run out sooner] Is it easy to 'refill' - or will you just have to buy a new Mental Pen If you have to buy a new one [each time] - any idea of how the sharpie compares to a normal one... i.e. it lasts 1/2 long, etc As it seems some of you have this, maybe you know the answer If you don't want to say on the thread [as you have a review copy and don't know if you should reveal that to everyone] - please PM me As the price £38 - is great if it's refillable And awful if the pen lasts 1/4 of the time of a normal Sharpie and you have to buy a new pen then Thanks for any help |

Forgive me for asking but wouldnt the spectators be aware when the marks are in a totally different area than where they marked?
