After years of performing the much beloved Card Warp, I've noticed a strange reactions phenomena. Males are almost always speechless, gasping or mind-blown by the effect, whereas females are almost always indifferent to the effect. It's not indifference to card tricks or magic, as the phenomena only applies to Card Warp. Any performers noticing a similar experience as this? Any thoughts as to why this is occurring? Strange indeed.

Maybe because mens are more into puzzles and these kind of things.

When you look at the Card Warp, it can be seen more as a two pieces of a puzzle.

As for women, they probably like effect that imply less logical and mechanical effects and more poesy, stories and mental.

Whilst it's not an effect that I perform perhaps the solution could be in the presentation ie make the presentation more female friendly especially if the visuals are enough to get good responses from the men.

Inert,
Yes, I echo the presentation thought. If you use a relationship theme with broken and mended hearts, both men and women will be much more interested. I have done it with dating couples and married couples, talking about how sometimes things tear us apart in a relationship but it only takes one good thing to bring people back together, etc.

BTW, I don't do the traditional Card Warp. I do a couple versions that end up with a restored card. One really good one is a pretty recent one explained by Dan Harlan. I forget the name, but it involves a playing card and a borrowed dollar bill. I like it because the borrowed bill represents them and the card represents all the outside factors creating tension between them. Also, there is a lot you can do (patter-wise) with money.

I use Burger's presentation. Men are very receptive to the idea of ripping a woman's tong out, the ladies less so.

Actually only Eugene Berger could pull off that line.
