Id love to pin a card on the spectators back for a reveal. Whether the card is f**ced and a dupe is pinned, or the actual card is pinned, is not important...anyone point me to information on safety pinning on a spectator? Like a hook coin is there a hook pin? Any other methods besides a pin but not tape?
What're your thoughts friends? |

I'd just use a little bit of remount adhesive. It provides just enough adhesion. And you don't need to spray the entire card, just a bit of the center. I'd avoid hooks, pins, or anything else that could bite skin.

The idea is that its impossibly pinned, clothes pinned, Safety pinned, heck even paper clipped. I think a safety pin could be made to look like its locked on the shirt like method like hooked coin...and it wouldn't prick the spectator, biting skin I completely agree.
This to me seems a bit stronger than just the card by itself "attached" to the back of a shirt or jacket. Was curious if anyone has written or published about any such gimmicks/method for a card or even bill. |

In that case, just pin the card by itself. On the backside of the card, use a little double stick tape, remount, magician's wax or anything else that will cause it to cling to clothing. After you place the card, it will appear pinned. Of course, you're the one that need to "unpin" it, but everything will look as it should.
In fact, if you place a little Octopalm gel on the backside of the pin itself to get it to stick to the spectator, after you unpin the card you can hand out the card and there won't be anything to find.

Play safe. Use a dagger. Then you are sure the card will stick to the back.
For a lady with a blouse in pure silk, I can recommend a needle or a safety pin. The hole in the blouse is later good for ventilation purposes. |

Michael Ammar has an effect where a bill/card gets pinned to his own back. It requires a bit of set-up, and the gag is on the magician. Actually pinning on the spec seems a bit, shall we say, dangerous. Otherwise, I vote for Steven Keyl's idea where the pin only appears to be stuck to the spec's back. Lynn

Another consideration is the damage to clothing.
Supposedly Malini stabbed an heirloom table during a card stab, to each their own I guess. As for a method I don't believe one's been published. There are a few ways of going about it depending on conditions. |

Another consideration...
I don't know how you're going to be performing this, but if a card ends up pinned to a spectator's back, that spec turns into the butt of the joke. When he turns around and people start laughing that the card is pinned to his jacket, how he feels about this turn of events should at least be considered. Of course, it can be scripted in a way to avoid the "spectator as sucker" trick, and I hope you find a way to present it where everyone is entertained. Maybe look at the Ammar effect referenced by lynnef for presentational possibilities. Good luck.

Michael Ammar's trick is in vol 1 of easy to master money miracles. It's called "Cash Back" (credited to Peter Pit). Although it involves a dollar bill, it could be adjusted to a card effect. Lynn

This is not a pick on the spectator effect. Nor would it initiate laughter towards/at the spectator in any way shape or form.
I'm simply trying to brainstorm with this great hive mind a way to have something "look" pinned to ones shirt, without the dangers of using anything sharp near or on the spectator. I've seen it done brilliantly once. However I did not know if this was a published gimmick or not, and certainly don't want to copy what's not mine. Ideally I'd prefer to not have it on my back, but ill certainly look into this. Thanks for the tips guys! |

I like his version and the possible damage of clothes is as low as possible
