Has anyone from the Café attended a Genii convention and what was their opinion of the event; Is anyone from the Café attending the coming convention (Oct 4, 5, 6,7, in Orlando Florida); Would anyone be interested in sharing accommodation expenses at the convention??

I was at the last convention, missed the first one. From what I hear the second convention out did the first, I certainly thoroughly enjoyed myself. I'm registered for this year's, looking forward to it.

I went to the first one with a friend of mine and we both signed up for this one. We both also signed up for Michael Weber's workshop.

I've been to both and I am registered for the third one.
I've always enjoyed it.
It is a busy and ambitious schedule.
Don't plan on getting much sleep.

Hard to believe that the convention is just a few weeks away. It will be my first Genii Convention...the only other big convention I've been to is Magic Live. It will be fun to be able to compare the two. One thing I already like better is the idea that you're not missing anything at Genii. At Magic Live, there were times when I wanted to be at two places at once so it will be nice not having to make those kinds of decisions.

I had an amazing time. I was a little disappointed how it rained every day so my wife didn't get to use the pool too much. Richard, the next time you schedule the convention, could you please make sure it won't rain??? As far as the convention itself, I'm having a hard time of thinking how it could be much better.

Can anyone tell me how the Genii convention compares with Magic Live? I've been to the last three Magic Live events and have enjoyed them very much, and was wondering what the differences were, if any.

Thx....Scalito

At Genii the dress code is more strictly enforced...

Genii is an old-fashioned convention on steroids.

You do not have to choose between events. You can see everything.

Most things are not repeated, so everyone has the same experience.

It's a much more intimate convention: 550 people as opposed to 1600.

Our hotel is attached to The Florida Mall, the largest shopping mall in central Florida. There is an enormous food court, so you can eat inexpensively and have great variety. (Also, your wife can go shopping while you're at the convention.)

Finally, Stan Allen and I have very different ideas about what we want from our performers. He wants people to do "different" things; I want people to do what they do best. The convention attendees can judge for themselves which they prefer, or if they like both.
