A month or so ago I shared my progress on a passion project I have been working on for the last two years. I wanted to bring an old piece of magic back into the light, specifically an early book test from the 17th century. Well, it's now ready to go out into the world. A 17th-century Venetian nobleman by the name of Andrea Ghisi developed several recreational books that allowed someone to divine, from three questions, the exact figure thought of within a book full of illustrations. Labyrinth 1616 is my reimagining of Andrea Ghisi's 1616 version of Labyrinth, or Laberinto, published by Evangelista Deuchino in Venice. The bulk of the book consists of 42 pages of illustrated figures, seemingly arranged at random. The remaining pages of the book are devoted to a title page and a two-page dedication to Giovanni Bembo, the Doge of Venice at that time. I have written a 16-page instruction booklet, edited by the spectacular David Parr, describing the history, contents, and method in detail. If you're interested, you can head over to http://darkfoundry.com for more information and more pictures. Also, because some people have asked: this is a different book from the one recently released by the Conjuring Arts Research Center. Their facsimile edition, "A devotione del signore" was originally published in 1617 by Horatio Galasso. The version I have remade is one of several variations titled "Il Laberinto" from 1616, by Andrea Ghisi. The books share a similar method but that's about it. Thanks for reading!

Thanks Dr. O, it's much appreciated!
I'll have everything ready to go here shortly. I am at the mercy of the post office though, so recent orders probably won't be going out till after this long Labor Day weekend. I'll keep you updated!

As a graphic designer this was one of the easiest times I had saying "yes" to a purchase. Outstanding work here!!! Care was spent on every detail.

My copy arrived in the mail yesterday. This is one of those items that would've made a great unboxing video, but I was too eager to see my long-awaited prize, so I quickly, but carefully, pried open the wax seals securing the contents.
It took me but a moment to learn how it worked. And then I presented it to my spouse. It was a joy to perform and the handling is about as natural as it gets; you riffle through the pages and ask a series of three questions, and you know all you need to know. Truly a work of art, and a fine addition to my library. I also plan on presenting it to my math classes, since it will serve well for teaching a particular lesson. :-D This is one of those items that you love having just sitting on your coffee table whenever guests drop by. When they ask what it is, you will be able to show them and mystify them as well.

First Class International is about $21 and most people that have had me ship the book internationally have chosen that. There are a couple of other options when you check out but that seems to be the cheapest.

How much memory work will I need for this?
|
|||||||||
Scott Douglas New user Florida 82 Posts |
Minimal to none. I would strongly lean towards 'none', but there is something in the method that you need to remember/memorize for certain occasions so things go smoothly. I will message you with more details.
There is no complicated memory work/mnemonics involved for this, though.

All orders have been dropped off at the post office.
Temporarily disabling everything for now. I live in South Florida and Hurricane Irma may or may not be on its way to wreck us here. Don't want anyone waiting in the wings for a book while I'm out of power or flooded or whatever.
