The linking rings are an old overdone classic very much like the cups and balls. Either one has the capacity to either captivate or bore an audience in spite of repeated exposure. The secret is engaging the audience and drawing them in. If your routine is well-crafted and executed, you can convince a spectator who has seen the rings many times, or even who owns a set, that you are employing some other unknown and mystifying method beyond their comprehension. Ray Pierce and Levent are two of our VIP Café members who report frequent standing ovations for their performance of the rings, and I believe it is Levent's closer. It is the most powerful piece in my own repertoire. Those who think that the rings are "lame and out of date" should look at the Chris Capehart routine. He grips the attention of a modern audience for every second of the routine.

That which engages an audience is the question: the brain automatically tries to solve questions put before it. Hence artists who knew that developed techniques, such as smoke, to capture the attention and draw the brain into the reality work as it searched for the answer to what was hidden in the mist.
Lewis Carroll — 'Curiouser and curiouser!” Cried Alice (she was so much surprised, that for the moment she quite forgot how to speak good English).' curious adjective comparative adjective: curiouser 1. eager to know or learn something. "I began to be curious about the whereabouts of the bride and groom" 2. strange; unusual. "a curious sensation overwhelmed her" synonyms: strange, odd, peculiar, funny, unusual, bizarre, weird, eccentric, queer, unexpected, unfamiliar, abnormal, out of the ordinary, atypical, anomalous, untypical, different, out of the way, surprising, incongruous, extraordinary, remarkable, puzzling, mystifying, mysterious, perplexing, baffling, unaccountable, inexplicable, irregular, singular, offbeat, unconventional, unorthodox, outlandish, off-centre, aberrant, freak, freakish, deviant; More It is not just the magic which is made of this stuff but also the bosh, the entertainment, the dressing or ought to be.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.
